This moment was so important to me. Due to an unfortunate experience with SmartStyles, I searched for a black owned Salon where I could be with my people learning new skills and teaching skills I already knew. This experience at Friends24Salon wasn’t what I expected nor needed it to be so my time there was short. I will say that my experience at Friends lit a fire under my ass I didn’t know was there. I went and made my own business cards to promote not only the Salon but myself as a Styler of the Salon. I was passing them out by hand which was allowing me to connect with the community on a more personal level as well as allowing the customer to officially meet and talk to the stylist prior to booking. I think that was my favorite part because my personality was able to shine. Anyway, after things didn’t work out I felt heartbroken and defeated because I was the girl in school screaming I didn’t care about getting my license because I wasn’t being taught what I wanted to specialize in or that it didn’t matter because I was never working in a Salon. Both of my Salon experiences were ass but I feel I allowed those experiences to shape how I looked at the beauty industry from a negative standpoint point. Now that the lenses are falling off and I plan to light that same fire under my own ass, I NEED YALL SUPPORT..POSSIBLY AGAIN IF U SUPPORTED ME THE FIRST TIME.
