Sageroots was started by a group of four ladies with natural hair texture who were enthusiastic about finding healthier alternatives to care for their hair. Finding it difficult to source naturally based products in the British Virgin Islands, they decided to birth Sageroots. They also give advice on healthy hair and skin care using products that are derived from nature. We are currently operating out of Clover’s in Road Town, and are easily accessible through facebook and email.

At Sageroots, we’ve always had an environment first approach to our business. We’ve managed our environmental & sustainability goals in house and privately kept tabs on whether we were meeting our targets.
Last year, we took the Virgin Islands green pledge. We came up with some specific targets we wanted to hit along with implementation timeline and shared them. They went something like this:
1. Implementing recycling systems for glass, aluminum, plastic and cardboard in 1 month
2. Reduce waste by 40% in 1 year
3. Reduce energy and water consumption by 10% in 1 year
4. Increasing the sharing of educational content by 25% in 1 year.
Being more environmentally responsible starts with a making a decision. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. In fact, you don’t need to take the green pledge to be more environmentally responsible decisions (it’s accountability does help though).
It can be as simple as deciding to save all your banana peels for composting in your (or a neighbour’s) garden for 1 month, to as complex as lobbying the Government for better protection of our natural resources.
Start where you are and just do what you can!
