Home FINALLY. Super late discharge waiting on feeding supplies, but we managed to bust out! I gave meds and started her first bolus feed at home so far so good!🤞🏻🏠💜

Surgery went great! Ignore her salty attitude she is not thrilled about the NG tube being back. ENT found a piece of tissue that has been the problem of the week! She’s recovering and we are hoping to make some progress now ❤️!

Little miss being stubborn and won’t lay on her belly where she breaths great. As soon as I flip her to her on her back... she smiles. She also starts retracting her chest muscles and acts like she can barely breath but she’s refusing to miss out today apparently 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🥴🥴🥴

We are now down oxygen tubing and left with this annoying NG tube that Brooklyn gags on. Today I’ve been pooped on and thrown up on. Brooklyn has had a little bit of a rough afternoon with tube feeds and she’s been starting swimming like movement with her arms that she can’t seem to control or stop. She’s also been grinding her teeth a lot. She’s been really restless, so neurology came and saw her and thinks there could be a chance that her brain could have suffered an injury from the code to the I believe they said basal ganglia. She will need an MRI to prove that but for now no one including myself want to put Brooklyn through being under for an MRI if it’s not urgent. Brooklyn’s precedex is off and she is starting on klonopin for the possible brain issue. If the night goes well Brooklyn will move to the airway unit (step down) tomorrow. She did finally smile today ❤️!

Today has been a rollercoaster ride for Brooklyn! My mom came to the hospital this morning and let me go home to see Blakely and Brody. Brooklyns heliox was weaned off and her sedation was also weaned off. At first she did fine, but then she started to really work to breath. They decided to turn heliox back on and give her more sedation to calm down. If she works hard to breath her throat also does not heal quicker, it will just make the inflammation worse. By the time I got back to the hospital this evening Brooklyn has been weaned off heliox, but is still on a little sedation to keep her restful and to let her body heal! She’s doing great so far and hoping to keep it off. She also had a great nurse that put butterfly clips in her hair and grandma got her a unicorn to hold ❤️. Hoping she has a restful night so she can heal and bust out of here. We are still in the picu and will probably go to the critical airway unit after this as a step down once they feel she’s ready. Huge shoutout to my parents for helping with the kids and for running back and forth to cinci to give me meal breaks ❤️! Nancy Spracklen Tehan
