One of the leading causes of dark circles under the eyes is volume loss which leads to sunken eyes and thinner skin, magnifying the appearance of dark circles 👁️

When you look at this patient’s before photo on the top, you can see a slight under-eye groove at the junction of the eyelid and cheek and a darkening of the skin in this area.

The skin in our under-eye area is the thinnest skin on the body, and we can, in fact, “see” into it for a mm or so, making it possible to see the underlying veins and vasculature.

By placing dermal filler beneath this point and to the surrounding area assists in plumping up the skin and supporting the tear trough to give the smoother, even-toned under-eye appearance that you can see on the bottom photo.
