I had a friend of mine, lets call him Kevin, reply to my invite to my Upper Extremity Nexus Class with "Mmm I feel pretty confident working the neck and shoulders. I think I will sit this one out".
At that moment I realized that many people might have difficulty understanding what this class is really about. So I asked Matthew McConaughey (GPT) how he would respond if he were me lol:
"Kevin, my man, I hear you—you’re feeling good about the neck and shoulders. That’s solid. But here’s the thing… you’re missing the whole point of what this class is about.
See, it’s not just about treating what’s obvious. It’s about connecting the dots. If a client rolls in with carpal tunnel symptoms, do you know if it’s really carpal tunnel or if it’s cervical nerve root entrapment? Bertichi’s test can tell you. Ever had a frozen shoulder case? Could involve anterior scalene syndrome. Do you know how to look for that?
And what about trigger finger? Tennis and golfer's elbow? De Quervain's tenosynovitis? Cubital tunnel syndrome? Radial styloiditis? Rotator cuff syndrome? They could all trace back to pectoralis minor syndrome. The real question is—how do you assess for it and help it? That’s what this class is about.
Most therapists, especially seasoned ones, feel comfortable with the neck and shoulders. But how many can confidently say they can pinpoint whether an upper extremity issue is coming from thoracic outlet nerve entrapments, anterior scalene syndrome, or pectoralis minor syndrome? Few. That’s why this class exists.
Just this week, I had a patient with De Quervain’s syndrome and radial styloiditis. But before I could even treat the local pain, I had to resolve nerve entrapments in three different areas. That’s next-level thinking. That’s what I want to teach you.
And Kevin… be honest, have you even heard of periosteal massage? I bet not. But you will. So don’t sit this one out—jump in. It’ll change the way you see the body. Alright, alright, alright?
Three slots left.
