A love a feminine, “antique rose”🌷makeup look!😻
Care for a wee story time for my love affair with this makeup? Aaaaaalrighty then!
has been one of my favorite makeup artists for the last few years, hands downs.🙌 or up!! I’ve always turned to her on YouTube and then eventually on IG. I found a lot of comfort in a gorgeous makeup artist/fan who seemed so unapologetic about her vibrant personal style!! I needed that. I needed to see examples of women who had a positive energy about “any amount of makeup is great!”, and that I’m great as me whether I’m wearing none or have spent an hour on my eyeshadow!! Ahh, IG makeup trend days…
Plus, she’s Scottish🏴(some of you may know that I lived there for about six years and will always have a huge place in my heart) so I was won over form the start…Now that she has her own products, I’m smitten with the messaging and formulas and am SO thrilled with it all. What talent, good gravy!! I’m throughly impressed, !!👏
How about you, do you have makeup/style icons that inspire you?

My feelings [frustrations] on sexuality, the lack of education we have and how much that can harm us and our relationships!

Ok so Easter already happened, but imma leave these love bugs right hur.🐰
•
So if you’re new here, you’ll see it’s just my babies and I. I’m a single muma, but maintain a relationship with their dad’s family (fyi I didn’t divorce anyone else but their dadio) which is where we enjoyed Easter festivities this year.
•
Coparenting absolutely has its ups and downs, but like ANY relationship. However I will say this- it’s possible to figure it out, to learn to be respectful but maintain healthy boundaries, and to show yourself and your babies that your family can both look different AND be peaceful and positive.
•
I’d be lying (not my jam) if there weren’t moments and days where I wanna scream into a pillow. Which is something else I want to add; having a few people close to me who could be there, listen, and leave condemning responses at the door have been one of my main pillars to get through the downs. I just want to share that divorce isn’t all hell and darkness, but more importantly, there are healthy ways to manage it all- even if it’s letting yourself be a potato for a day. Or a month. ;) and yes, I’ve learned that that IS healthy, to allow some storms to pass on their own, and to just BE.

I’m SO inspired this morning to share how much I truly love working with women. I have a special soft spot for connecting with mature women, for the exchange of energies is beeeeeautiful to me!✨They share a wisdom about life that touches the gentle, feminine part of me that can many times be buried underneath life’s demands to be strong and to “chin up!”.
Without further adieu, let me introduce to you MY French mama, Christine Thébault-Smith! In her words, her journey with makeup:
“Every day since forever, I have been « putting on my face » as I call it. Usually eye make and lipstick and sometimes blush. I have tried foundation in diverse forms, liquid, creams and powder but the results were quite frustrating because the product would often streak or settle in my lines and emphasizes them. So I gave up on foundations all together. I do have to admit that I was sceptical when a few weeks ago, some of my acquaintances were raving about their experience with Seint foundation. When my daughter Adeline, shortly after, signed up to be part of the company as an artist, I looked at their products closer. Adding her positive experience to the women’s I knew, I decided to go for it! It was easy to match my skin tone by sending in a face shot through Adeline’s link and put the selected colour directly in my cart. I added a few eye shadows, a blush and a bronzer and a couple of brushes. Since receiving my order, I have really enjoyed using the products. They are quick and foolproof to apply and what pleases me most is that I get consistant results. The foundation is light and creamy, super easy to use. I see a finished, polished look but natural and that is what I prefer. The eye shadows blend beautifully and have staying power. I am really pleased with the quality and the simplicity of the line. I am hooked!!”

Starburst.💫 by Adeline Smith
Everything is an illusion
Of what our souls hold
Of what our lives have told.
Mine is shattered glass
Once clear and strong
Now the nights long.
Lungs all cut up
The fallen pieces slice
I gasp for air and pace.
It seems nothing helps
A mind as busy as a city
All I have left is to be gritty.
Is it all part of the journey
To burn so bright
But as all stars must,
inevitably burst.
I never asked for this
Am I grieving my brightly lit illusion
I cannot bear the agonizing confusion.
Could it be
A star must despise
For a sun to rise?

My ode to anxiety.
For all of us who have lost ourselves at varying points in time.
For all of us who look back on decisions and knew we were sorely detached from who we really were.
I say now, strength can only grow from weakness; we all deserve to feel at home inside the walls of our own heart & soul.
Adeline in 2010 only knew what she knew, and was sorely limited in her voice and vision as she was a lost young woman. But Adeline 2021 is finding her voice as she persists in now using it, and I promis you- her vison grows stronger and stronger in her blessed weaknesses.

My 6 year old daughter: mama why are you all faaancy, where are you going??
Me: (questions how often I’ve been wearing pyjamas around the house) Oh, I’m not going anywhere special honey, I just like to dress nice so I can feel good.
That daughter again: ......ok but where are you going to be SO fancy??
😑......
HA. Anyone been having this conversation more with the last year or so?!?

Can I be super forthright? I need to call out something I’ve been struggling with over the last year, and I need to put it out into the ether to continue to eliminate its hold on me:....I really miss my pre-baby bo***es.
•
So maybe that doesn’t seem like it needs words like forthright and ether, but I’m tellin’ ya, if you know, you KNOW.😳
•
In all sincerity, it can be really challenging to see your body change in general and for me, after having babies. There’s this pendulum swing between empathizing with women who get b**b jobs (and even considering the idea for myself- I get it now), and feeling guilty that I struggle to accept my body as she stands.
•
It’s also uncomfortable to show any cleavage at all with the upbringing I had, feeling both incredibly responsible for men’s thoughts and that I’m “dirty” for wanting to show some of my body for me. Its hard to distinguish between social culture, family and religious culture, and what I actually feel aligns with mySELF.
•
I don’t think it’s black and white anymore, and although I’m like, “oh gosh my brother may see this photo” lol, it’s MORE important for me to give a little space here for those of use that struggle in silence- it can be deeply crippling to work through your ideals and values alone, and I DON’T recommend it!!
✨Finding people that accept you, don’t feel threatened by differing views and can just really LIKE you is truly a healing balm.🙏✨

Do you remember what you REALLY loved, what you got excited about as a kid?? Those times where you could be doing some thing for hours, perhaps lost in your imagination and just being, a kid!
✩
As I have embarked on this journey to really step into who I am, Adeline Anne Rosina Smith, I find that solid truths are often repeated:
The things we once enjoyed as children, are often what we still enjoy as adults. The only difference is that our messaging has become muddied, and we have forgotten.
✩
So one of these central things for me is to be around, care for, and play with ANIMALS!
Why??
I find that they ground me. They are innocent and pure like children are, so if I’m trying to nurture my inner child (which I am learning is the BEST way to be a whole + fulfilled adult) and bring her to the center of my being, then it’s indeed a great idea to embark anew with the things that I truly loved as a wee Adeline.
✩
Which things did you absolutely love as a child?? I truly wanna hear at all! xx

COULD IT BE that the need to take care of our appearance is a REALLY CURIOUS blessing in disguise?.....
✨
What if the need to cut hair, wash our face, put things on our faces and bodies to have a certain aesthetic are all about connection & community?
👥
I personally need to go see someone to cut my hair- I found one of my dearest friends because of it, and I always feel refreshed both in body and mind afterwards! Isn’t that part of why we crave to get these things done sometimes?...
⚡️
I know that when I was working for Bobbi Brown, I had the same experience but on the other side- as the giver. I had women tell me about their most personal stories, pains and joys, and whenever we were done with makeup, sometimes they’d get up and we had forgotten where we were and couldn’t help but exchange hugs (even tears!) because we both gained so much more THROUGH the need of going to someone else for beauty!
💞
I was watching one of ‘s videos one night and she was talking about hairstylists specifically and how they’re so much more than stylists (although I believe that alone is incredible)- she said, “we don’t just do hair right? We do consultations, we are listeners, we are healers, we are lovers, we are friends, we are chemists, WE ARE SMART AS HELL and there is so much more that we do to get to the final result”
⚡️⚡️⚡️
This hit me like someone knocking me back into a free fall!! (safely, mind you...;)
It startled me and took my breath away and I thought AHHHHH, these words put into play what I’ve been feeling for a LONG long time concerning makeup and self-expression. AMEN-thank you-come again!!
👏
Do you feel a special type of way when YOU go shopping for a new piece of makeup or get your hair done in a different way or get pedicures with an old friend?
Tell me I’m not the only one that gets all goofy about this kinda stuff!🤓
