FORDYCE SPOTS👄
So many of my clients ask what these are on their lips. They appear as white/yellow spots that sit underneath the skin.
They can also be called fordyce glades or granules. They are basically enlarged oil glands that your body naturally produces. People that have lip augmentation are more likely to see them as the filler tends to make them more noticeable! But don’t worry they are completely harmless and painless. The Capillary refill test is an important part of the lip enhancement procedure. This simple check measures the amount of blood flow getting to the lip tissue. With any aesthetic procedure there is a small chance of blood vessels becoming blocked due to filler compromising the space⛔️ This is a check I carry out not only on my aesthetic clients but my patients at work within my medical role.

HOW SAFE IS YOUR PRACTITIONER⁉️
The picture above shows an example of a positive aspiration🩸💉
So what does this mean?
Aspirating is the act of inserting the needle into the skin and pulling back on the plunger - acting as a vacuum mechanism. If the flash back within the needle head contained blood this would mean the needle is within a vessel. Therefore not safe to inject into! 🚩❌
