Lye (Sodium Hydroxide•NaOH) is needed to make actual soap. There is nothing wrong with Melt-and-Pour soap method (I’ve used the process as well) but it’s more satisfying to actually get down and dirty and become a and watch a chemical reaction occur.
But like with any experiment, safety is first. Getting lye on the skin is not fun…(😮💨) even if it’s just a little bit.
The thing is wet or dry lye is very dangerous so be very cautious when pouring and mixing.
Other than that, there’s nothing to be afraid of…get to experimenting 🌱.

Trial and Error 1 (Oct 2, 2021): Back at soap making and this happened. Seizing and (unfortunately I was so frightened by what happened that I didn’t catch a video) a lovely “SOAP VOLCANO”. I was so excited because the trace was so beautiful but unmoving. The stick blender actually got stuck in the batch. I couldn’t figure out to do next…especially since the soap started to RISEEEE!!
Bad soap very bad lol but I later learned that conducting the Hot Process when seeing this could have saved the soap but it’s was already too late.
It was fun tho…I’ll try again next time.

Hi,
My name is Genesis Griffin! 20 years old and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. I am in college working towards my BS in medicine at UAB! I am not the only person helping me with this exciting project...my mother, sister, and my best friend are alongside me trying to make this dream come true!! Hopefully, I can woo you guys to trying my product!! 🤎
Hi,
I am the founder of Pleasant Organics! My name is Genesis Griffin and I am from West Palm Beach, Florida. Honestly, the only thing I know about soap is that I use it on a daily basis. However, I know what I want my skin to feel and look like. A couple of days back, I received a package in the mail from SweetpeachspaLLC and they sent me an amazing homemade soap. Smells great and is gentle on the skin. I wanted to create something just the same. December 8, 2020 (yesterday) was my first time making a bar of soap. It was a different experience...soothing. I want to continue to make soap to not only sooth my mind, body, and soul but I would also like to do the same for others through my product. So, if you guys could...please spread the word about my upcoming business I would gladly appreciate it. Follow me on IG and FB: pleasantorganics 🤎
