You can’t do anything about what happened in the past, but you can do something about right now. When you begin to focus on what you can change instead of what you can’t change, you are making the right investment. The past is the past. God didn’t create you to carry around a bunch of junk that is going to weigh you down and keep you from the life He has planned for you.

Creativity is a way of life not a talent

If there is a particular Truth that you do not truly realize--then it does not belong to you. It will belong to you as soon as you realize it; but not before. This is why most spiritual teachers tell their students that they must do the work for themselves in the long run. Of course, people in special difficulties do need help from someone else occasionally and they should never hesitate to ask for it, but still the fact remains that we must do our own work as a rule.
The old-fashioned habit of telephoning a healer every time some minor thing went wrong was mistaken, and is now dying out.
The moment that you realize a particular Truth, it begins to work in your life. It begins to change, first your consciousness, and then your body or outer circumstances. You know, of course, that outer things always follow the consciousness.
But any spiritual Truth that you begin to realize at least to some extent, will go far beyond this. It not only changes and heals the particular problem for which you were praying, but it will change every part of your nature for the better.
Often you will suddenly come to a realization of something you never understood before. An entirely new meaning of a particular text will open out to you. That text was familiar and you thought you understood it but now you get something new, and you will think, with surprise and joy, "oh, that is the full meaning! It never occurred to me before." This is a great step forward in understanding and naturally it brings some kind of healing, because we cannot get an increase in understanding without getting a healing also. It may not necessarily be a physical healing. It may be a healing of your disposition, or an increase in Divine Love, or the overcoming of a fault, and so forth. And whatever the new thing is, you will never lose it again.

Dare to believe in the reality of your assumption
and watch the world play its part relative to its fulfillment.

That which is common, ordinary or inferior should never be held in mind, nor deeply felt for a moment, because to feel the ordinary is to impress the ordinary upon the subconscious; it is sowing inferior seed, and the harvest will be cheap, common, worthless.

God is Good.

Now we too often choose to use our free will in a negative way, allowing ourselves to think selfishly, and this wrong thinking brings upon us all our troubles. Instead of understanding that it is our essential nature to express God, to be ever about our Father's business, we try to set up our own account We abuse our own free will, trying to work apart from God, and the very natural result is all the sickness, poverty, sin, trouble, and death that we find on the physical plane We must never for a moment try to make plans or arrangements without reference to God, or suppose that we can be either happy or successful if we are seeking any other end than to do his Will.

Our business is to bring our whole nature as fast as we can into conformity with the will of God "In his will is our peace," said Dante, and the Divine Comedy is really a study in fundamental states of consciousness, the Inferno representing the state of the soul that is endeavoring to live without God, the Paradiso representing the state of the soul that has achieved its conscious unity with the divine Will It was this sublime conflict of the soul that wrung from the heart of the great Augustine the cry, "Thou hast made us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless until they find themselves in Thee

The way of Love, upon which you may step at any moment—at this moment if you like—requires no formal permit, has no entrance fee, and no conditions whatever. You need no expensive laboratory in which to train, because your own daily life, and your ordinary daily surroundings, are your laboratory. You need no reference library, no professional training; no external acts of any kind. All you need is to begin steadfastly to reject from your mentality everything that is contrary to the law of love.
You must build up by faithful daily exercise the true Love Consciousness. Love will heal you. Love will comfort you. Love will guide you. Love will illumine you. Love will redeem you from sin, sickness, and death, and lead you into your promised land.
Say to yourself: "My mind is made up; I have counted the cost; and I am resolved to attain the Goal by the path of Love. Others may pursue knowledge, or organize great enterprises for the benefit of humanity, or scale the austere heights of asceticism; but I have chosen the path of Love. My own heart is to be my workshop, my laboratory, my great enterprise and love is to be my contribution to humanity

People sometimes accept the idea that a change of thought, plus turning to God in prayer, will transform their lives into harmony and freedom. The logic of this principle appeals to them, and they set to work upon it in earnest. Then, after a few days, they say, “Nothing has happened after all,” and they drop back into their old negative thinking.
That is extremely foolish. The results of many years of general negative thinking are seldom corrected in a few days. No one who goes upon a new physical diet or medical regimen expects to reap the advantages in so short a time. You must keep up the new way of thinking and refuse to be discouraged by seeming failures at first.
The right motive for adopting right thinking is that it is right, and wrong thinking is wrong, and we should do right whether it seems to pay dividends – but it usually takes a little perseverance in the face of preliminary slowness.

Nothing is really worth worrying about. Nothing is really worth getting angry or hurt or bitter about. Positively nothing is worth losing your peace of mind over.

These important truths follow logically upon the following fact: You are going to live forever—somewhere. This means that there is plenty of time to get things right again if they have gone wrong. No matter what mistake you may have made, enough prayer will overtake it and cancel it. If those you love seem to be acting foolishly, you can help them with prayer to be wiser, and, meanwhile, if they suffer, it means that kindly nature is teaching them a lesson that they need to learn.

But suppose something awful should happen? Well, what then? Suppose you lost everything and landed in the poorhouse. What then? Think what a wonderful demonstration you could make there, and you would probably learn several valuable lessons there, and, anyway, it would be quite interesting. Suppose the whole universe blew up. What then? When the dust settles, God will still be in business and you will be alive somewhere, ready to carry on.

Never look back. Always go right ahead. Even if you are quaking, go right ahead.
