Imagine: You’ve practiced embodiment enough to be able to notice a delicious moment and let yourself completely feel it - not caring how you look, not thinking about what else you should be doing, but instead being, completely here and now.
Feeling now in your cells. On your skin. Hearing and seeing now. Smelling it. Letting it be okay to enjoy.

7 ways to Explore Your Exhale **without counting
There are all kinds of reasons not to want to sound. For one, list-making and counting can be triggering. Counting can exaggerate the feeling that you can’t breath or illicit other uncomfortable experiences for some.
If you’re curious about your exhale, and it seems like a good moment, you could try...
(1) Bees make a sort of “hmmm.” You can make this sound from barely perceptible to loud, with different tones. You can also embody it as you exhale silently, as if you are humming.
(2) Connecting your movements with breath, perhaps lingering in your exhale movement. Examples: Moving one or both arms to your side and then back down. Point and flex your feet. Turn neck left and right.
(3) If you’re not cold, sheetali and sheetkari pranayama are practices that involve either exhaling through a barrel shape with your tongue OR through your closed teeth with open lips. It can be cooling and drying.
(4) Purse your lips and exhale as if you are wanting to flicker a candle flame in front of you. Now try it as if you want to blow it out. See about all the levels in between. This can be a bit drying, so have water!
(5) The act of becoming aware of your breath can slow it down and possibly extend your exhale spontaneously. BUT - If you are escalating into or in active panic or existential anxiety, this can be triggering.
(6) You could use phrases with equal or unequal syllables to measure your breath - saying one as you inhale and exhale. These can be mindfulness and mindful self-compassion phases and mantras.
(7) Aside from humming bee breath (Brahmari pranayama), you can make other sounds as you exhale like vowels “ah,” “o” and others, consonant sounds like “sss,” “shh and “v” and combined sounds like “hah.”
CAVEAT - not everyone needs to extend their exhale. Breath needs are like a fingerprint, so above all do not force yourself to extend breath if it isn’t feeling good.

Affirmations aren’t for everyone. At times, they’ve actually pi**ed me off 🤬or set off a hopelessness vortex 🌀 🌀
This can be especially true with mantras for “self-love” that don’t seem to take into account how triggering saying “I love myself” or “I am beautiful” can actually be.
Like everything in wellness and wellbeing, while affirmations work really well for some (and over time certain affirmations actually warm my heart), mindfulness intentions like “May I have clarity” or “May I feel safe” can be more palatable and self-neutral.
Here are some phrases that feel like balm to my soul when I’m struggling with low self-worth and belonging or acceptance.
I focused on “May I Feel” phrases, because although you might have or be something, it doesn’t mean you actually feel it - that you embody or have a felt sense that that is true.
You can hold these phrases in your mind as you move, breathe, tap, contemplate. You can also say them, sing them, write them. Make collages or other art with them in mind.
There are all sorts of ways to interact with these phrases. You can also make up ones more apt to your situation or ones that seem more aligned and tolerable for you!
