This morning, on our way to summer daycare, my 5-year-old suddenly had a 💡 moment.
“Mummy, I know why Friday has an F in it!”
So of course I asked, “Why?”
Very confidently, he said:
“Because Fridays are FUN!” 😂😂
Okay… you got me there, little man.
But after laughing, it actually made me think about something.
We don’t always have to entertain our children.
One thing I’ve intentionally chosen not to do is screens during car rides. Whether we’re driving 10 minutes or going on a longer drive, my kids know the car is a screen-free space.
They talk.
They sing.
They look out the window.
They ask approximately 847 questions. 😂
They notice buildings, animals, signs, clouds and things I probably would have driven right past.
And sometimes… they just sit.
I think we’ve become so accustomed to keeping children constantly stimulated that we can forget there is value in simply giving their minds room to wander.
Not every quiet moment needs a tablet.
Not every “I’m bored” needs to be solved.
Sometimes boredom is where imagination begins.
Sometimes looking out the window leads to a question.
A question leads to a conversation.
And sometimes a random drive to daycare leads a 5-year-old to conclude that Friday starts with F because Fridays are FUN. 😂
Those little moments may seem insignificant, but their brains are observing, connecting, imagining and figuring out the world around them.
And beyond that, some of my favourite conversations with my children happen in the car.
So here’s my little parenting thought for today:
We don't always have to create the moment for our kids. Sometimes we just need to leave enough space for the moment to happen.
Happy FUN-day Friday from my little philosopher. 😂❤️

Halfway through the year already?
Before we rush into the next six months, let's take a moment to pause.
You don't have to wait until December to reflect.

Whether you're expecting, raising little ones, or simply navigating this season of life, this check-in is for you.
Take five minutes today. Breathe. Reflect. Dream.
Swipe through our Mid-Year Check-In, answer each question, and tell us in the comments which reflection resonated with you the most?
We'd love to cheer you on.
Save this post and come back to it at the end of the year to see how far you've come.

He doesn’t fully understand… but somehow, he knows.
Watching your first baby connect with the one still in your belly is something else… 🥹
Nobody really talks about this part of pregnancy.
When your first baby meets your second baby like this… your heart just stretches.

We hand our kids screens all the time...
to eat, to rest, to get a moment of peace…
But what if it’s doing more than we think? 😳
I came across a report on how screens affect children’s brain development…
and I won’t lie, it made me pause.
We’re not just talking about “too much TV”…
We’re talking about how it shapes how our kids think, learn, and focus.
If you’re a parent, you NEED to see this.
