🇨🇳 “Spider Interceptor” 🕸
The Chinese have installed a metallic cross-shaped frame with an anti-drone net on their interceptor drone to increase the hit area against small drones. In the video, the interceptor—without a warhead—catches the propellers of another drone with the net, causing it to fall.
Of course, this solution is controversial. Such a frame turns the drone into a real “sail”: in crosswinds, drag and wind resistance will likely increase significantly, which inevitably affects stability and interception accuracy. On top of that, there is additional weight, meaning reduced speed, flight time, and maneuverability.
At the same time, this design may help keep the interceptor intact after a crash landing, allowing it to be reused. Its real effectiveness will depend on how it performs in harsh weather conditions and during high-speed maneuvering.
