WHOLESOME FALAFEL RECIPE
Ingredients:
2 cups chic peas (soak and cook)
1 onion
2 large clove garlic
1 cup fresh coriander
1 cup fresh parsley
Zest of 1 lemon
1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp cumin powder
1 Tbsp coriander powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground pepper
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup gluten free oat flour (you can blend oats into flour) Oil for frying.
Recipe:
- Place chic peas and 2L water in a large sauce pan to soak for 24 hours (They will triple in size and it reduces cooking time).
- Rinse and add new water and cook til soft. Canned chic-peas are too mushy( I think).
- Place the chic-peas, onion, garlic, fresh herbs, lemon zest, cayenne, cumin, coriander, salt and black pepper into a bowl of a food processor and alternate between pulse and blend until the mixture is uniform in size and still grainy in texture (not smooth).
- Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary. Add baking powder and do the final blend.
- Roll the mixture into balls about golf ball size. The balls should stay together and not fall apart.
- You can either shallow fry in coconut oil or deep fry in sunflower oil, but the oil must be very hot before immersing the balls into it.
- Cook until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Once cooked, let them sit on paper towel so the fat can drain off.
- Serve hot and crispy with hummus, tahini, crunchy slaw, some tasty aubergines and a squeeze of fresh lemon.
HELLO, GLUTEN FREE VEGAN FALAFEL!
It’s easy, just try...

Sometimes our soul’s call for a time out and we ignore it, but then the Universe creates a path which forces us to listen. I have been in a middle passage where one chapter is closing and a new one hasn’t quite opened yet… but lots of ground work is being done. A little bit like a cocoon process. Taking time to practice less resistance and more acceptance.
I have been on a private soul journey on which I have savoured food made from true healing hands which really has a very unique flavour. When you feed your soul at this level, you experience peace beyond measure.Through this experience I have developed a burning desire to share my knowledge and to help those who struggle to know how to feed themselves with creative, wholesome, plant-based meals.
I am here to be of service, to share my love and my passion to create a happier, healthier world that works in union. Sharing is certainly caring.
Stick around to see what we have in store.. ✨

Filippo Tommaso Marinetti was the first artist in the modern era to think of the preparation and consumption of food as art. He thought cooking and dining, so central to everyone’s day-to-day lives, should also be central to his farsighted, far-out ideals. Looking back, food has always played a role in art: Stone Age cave painters used vegetable juice as binding ingredients in their paints, and the Egyptians carved pictographs of crops and bread on hieroglyphic tablets. During the pop art era, food became a social metaphor. Wayne Thiebaud painted rows of pies and cakes in bright pastel colors that brought to mind advertisements and children’s toys. So, what is food art today, and how does it manifest itself in the twenty first century? Food, as art is synonymous with “eating with your eyes” as we allow all of our senses to get involved in the eating process – thus, a dish which is more visually appealing, is psychologically more appetizing. Make art with your food. Play, make mistakes and enjoy the messiness of getting properly involved with making your food artistic 🥭🥬🍋🍠

Nothing brings people together like good food! 🌮 Just like veganism is a sustainable option when it comes to looking after our planet, plant-based living is also a more sustainable way of feeding the human family. A plant based diet requires only one third of the land needed to support a meat and dairy diet, and with this rising global and water insecurities, there’s never been a better way to adopt a more sustainable way of living.
It’s time to ask ourselves: if it is now possible to live a life that involves delicious food/drink, delivers better health, leaves a smaller carbon footprint and avoids killing other creatures - then, WHY DON’T WE!?

It’s the first Saturday of November.. and you know what that means! 🍆 IT’S MARKET TIME! We will be at both of our monthly markets today, which is every Saturday from 6.30am - 11.30am and from 9am - 2pm! IHeart runs on the first Saturday of every month at Moses Mabhida Stadium. It oozes creativity and is always filled with awesome tracks, good company and (obviously) yummy flavours! 🍍 Durban is a bustling hub, and what an amazing opportunity to support local, and to be one with the city! Spicy spicy spicy.. we hear it all the time.. but man do these awesome flavours have incredible healing qualities too! 🌶 we always make sure to use fresh ingredients, yummy flavors and colorful ingredients! Pop past us tomorrow or for a flavoursome meal! And a little bit of spice on the side 👅

The cruciferous family of vegetables have generated a lot of interest in the health world due to their cancer fighting compounds. So, what are cruciferous veggies, and why are they so epic!? 🧐 so, here’s a little beginners guide for your Tuesday read:
- Cruciferous veggies are a diverse group that includes broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, bok choy, arugula, Brussels sprouts, collards, watercress and radishes.
- While these veggies grow in all different colors, shapes and sizes, they share several nutritional benefits - they are rich in vitamins and minerals such as folate and vitamin K. Dark green cruciferous veggies also are an excellent source of vitamins A and C. They’re also rich in phytonutrients — plant-based compounds that may help to lower inflammation and reduce the risk of developing cancer... as well as rich in fiber and low in calories, a combination that will help you feel full and satisfied without overeating!
Pictured here is our wonderful Blessing, squeezing fresh lemon on some cruciferous cabbage! What cruciferous veggies are you eating today? 🥦

What gets you up in the morning? And what makes your heart beat faster? ❤️ We know that the answer to both of those questions for us, is FOOD. 🥑 And delicious, ethical, plant based food, at that! 🌱 Eating is not only essential for your bodies, but for your minds too.. dietary changes bring about changes in our brain structure, chemistry and physiology (which lead to changes in behavior) as well as releasing serotonin while our bodies break down the food in the process of digestion. This increase in serotonin not only affects ones moods, but reduces depression, regulates anxiety, heals wounds, and maintains bone health. It’s so important to pay attention to your body, and this is the easiest way how.. just by feeding those hungry mouths with nutritional food!
