It's just HER bob length hair, bleached and toned properly.

You tell me. What do YOU see?

Do the lengths of her own bob hair REFLECT & SHIMMER as much as the extensions and the new hair at the scalp?
Or, do they look a funny dusty, chalky, mucky dull version of very pastel blonde?

This inspires me to gather up & post old pics from a handful of years ago. A time I call, "Growing Out GaGa." There, I said it....so now I have to follow through.
Hmm..the last post 2/23/13. I think I can beat that time frame. Whateverrrrrrr........

That year, I'd done Susan's color for Golden Globes, SAG Awards and now...The Academy Awards.
Prior to her LA arrival, she rang me and mentioned, the color needed to be softer and not as strong as the SAG Awards red to be a better fit with the color of her Oscar gown. Cut to the morning of the Oscars in her suite at The Four Seasons BH. The gown had yet to arrive for me to color reference. After a few rounds of Susan trying to describe the color and pointing a sweater, in the living room area of the suite, I felt I had a strong idea of the color of we were going for.

Me to Susan: "Okay, I think I've got it! Is it like the color of the top of a pumpkin pie when it's burnt, but add a little cream and make it shiny?"

Her positive response let me know I was good to go on starting the color. FOUR different foil colors (not a color rinse as reported by magazines - FCF/fact check fail) later when I had just finished the whole back of her head, the door bell to the suite rang. The copper bronze gown from Dolce & Gabbana had arrived. Susan, asked me if I wanted to come and see the gown. I did, just for fun, knowing we'd be good on the color matching.

This hair color created a lot of chatter on the red carpet, in magazines as best hair color and even mentioned in books. So fun! Come on............let's be real here!!!! Everyone & anyone can easily see the color doesn't rrrreally, match the gown. I'm a haircolorist, not a psychic with uber future vision powers.

However, what is a great match on Susan's look, is the REFLECTION and FEELING created which matches the reflection and feeling of the material of the gown. Now have a second look at the image with your "hair colorist eyes & mind". Consider yourself "schooled" on the difference between a TRUE HAIR COLORIST.....and someone who, just does color.

The diamonds, not the hair color, needed to be the most eye catching focus in this Kay Jewelers - Neil Lane Designs commercial.

YELLOW................is the color our eyes are attracted to first.
Even damaged, stretchy, over bleached hair which feels like a slimy wet noodle can be made to "APPEAR" healthy in the world of professional hair color.

Be a colorist who is a friend, not foe, to the hairstylist on the job by creating "VISUAL TEXTURE" on overly taxed hair.
Especially, when the damaged hair cannot be cut off.

A seasoned, knowledgeable colorist will add new colors to the existing "canvas" and AVOID starting with an all over base color.

Bottom line, be WISE and CHEMICALLY KIND, to the hair.
