PA-C to Health Consultant, helping women reverse PCOS through a holistic and root-cause approach

14/07/2024

Just getting started with making some changes to your household? If you’re eager to get rid of synthetic chemicals in your household, start here. Here’s my fav budget-friendly low tox starter kit. I use these products personally and love every single one!

Castile soap- we use unscented Dr. Bronners for body wash. Quit putting scented soaps on your ‘nads 🌞

Baking soda- what do I NOT use this for? Scrub your tile grout, clean your fruits and veggies, sprinkle on carpet and mattresses before vacuuming, cleaning kids toys, and adding to laundry are a few ideas

Native unscented deodorant- I go fragrance free. I realize there are “better” deodorants. This one is already expensive and it’s cheaper than a lot of other brands 🫠 in this economy, pick your battles haha. There’s also other deodorants that are scented with things like essential oils. I prefer fragrance free. But to each their own!

Glass containers- I try not to use plastic for food, but especially not hot food. Ever! We bought a set from Costco which we’ve had for a few years now. They last!

Vinegar- Love vinegar for many different uses. I use it with baking soda to clean my kitchen sink, I use it to clean my washing machine, countertops, and gym equipment

Branch Basics- I know, every influencer loves this brand haha. But I do find them relatively affordable because it lasts FOREVER and a little goes a long way. We use this for laundry detergent too!

Worried your house won’t smell good without synthetic fragrances? If your house is clean, it won’t smell bad 😁

Some tips for staying healthy tomorrow 🇺🇸

And of course, remembering why we have this day off. Can never repay the sacrifice that has been made by our fallen soldiers. Have a safe Memorial Day.

Food sequencing is such an easy way to help minimize glucose spikes!

Incorporating this has done wonders for my blood sugar levels. You eat veggies first- preferably a higher-fiber veggie or green. Bitter greens get bonus points (arugula, collard greens, endive, radicchio). I love doing a salad starter! Here’s an easy dressing you can keep in the fridge, or make on the spot 👇🏻

- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbs red wine vinegar
- 2 tbs of olive oil
- Minced garlic clove (if you want)
- Pinch of sea salt
- Black pepper

Mix up in a bowl, add your veggies, massage with your hands for best results, and let it sit for a few minutes after. Using my hands to mix my greens helps with the taste and texture so much!

And don’t forget that I work 1:1 to help women master blood sugar management (among other things). DM’s always open 🤍

Mother’s Day is 5 days away and it’s not too late to get her something!! If she’s anything like me, here’s what she really wants (and there’s still time to get all of the above for the mom in your life!)

- She wants to get off of birth control but she’s scared of getting pregnant again 🫣 get that mama a Tempdrop and a resource for learning cycle tracking (and time to utilize that resource) so that she can learn how to do it, not get pregnant, and feel like herself!

- She wants a massage. And not by you ☺️ get her a gift card!!!

- She wants some new nontoxic cookware, but not so she can cook herself a meal. Go buy her a steak and cook it in the new cast iron!

- She wants her tummy to stop hurting. Pay for her to work 1:1 with someone for a stool test, a protocol, and some ongoing support

- She wants some new kettlebells so that she can strength train at home. She also needs help with the kids so she can do this. She will feel good, her confidence will shoot up, and she’ll be able to play with and lift the kids without pain. I love KBs!

- SHE WANTS SLEEP. No explanation necessary. Grab the kids, make her breakfast, and let her sleep in!

One of my favorite things to teach about is the female menstrual cycle. Giving a very basic overview of the our cycle!

The follicular phase can vary, and it will not end until you ovulate. Women with PCOS can have extremely long follicular phases because our body is having a hard time ovulating. Stress can also delay ovulation, accounting for most cases of a “late period”

Your period probably wasn’t actually late, ovulation was! This can also be difficult if you don’t know this while trying to conceive

After ovulation, you only have an average of 12-14 days until your period comes, but can be anywhere from 10-17. A short luteal phase can indicate things like low progesterone, which can lead to miscarriage

This is another way cycle tracking can help you 🩷 knowing your luteal phase length can be crucial for helping you hold on to a pregnancy, especially if you’ve had recurrent miscarriages

If you are interested in ditching hormonal birth control and learning how to do this with 1:1 help, fill out the application on my website :-) and don’t forget to send this to someone that you think it may help!

Quit overcomplicating health! If you don’t know where to start, pick one. Once you have that down, add in another

I’d also like to add in getting outside as much as you possibly can… could even argue to start there before you try implementing exercise, just because it’s an easier first step!

If you don’t know where to start and need someone to help lead you, or think you need a deeper dive with a root cause approach, pleaseeee reach out and quit suffering 😭

I love looking back on where I was 10 years ago, 5 years ago, even 2 years ago. What I believed, who I was. It’s been a fun ride so far and can’t wait to see where I am in another 10 years. Always growing, learning, evolving. That’s what health and wellness is all about 🥰

Take a second to think about this- and unlearn everything you’ve been telling yourself for years. Quit hating yourself. Find new goals to reach, ones that are much more important for your life and longevity. It was quite humbling to be reminded of this by my 4 month old baby hahaha
