Meet the woman behind every look on the runway this weekend.

Franchesca Blandon, Makeup & Hair by Fran, has been AWAF's Hair and Makeup Director for four years now, and honestly, what she's built in that role is an art form in itself. Originally from San José, Costa Rica and now calling the Sunshine Coast home, Fran brings over seventeen years of experience spanning makeup artistry, hair, full body painting, headpiece design and cosmetic tattooing.

Her approach is anything but one size fits all. She works piece by piece, taking each artist's colour palette, materials and concept and figuring out exactly what the hair and makeup needs to do to bring it to life. Some artists arrive with a clear vision. Others hand it over to her completely.

A 14 time award winner across special effects, airbrushing, body art and creative photography, Fran has competed, directed, judged and created. This weekend, her work will be part of every single piece that walks the runway.

Today was the launch of the book Women Inspired , Edition 4. I feel very honored and grateful to be featured in this edition alongside so many incredibly inspirational women, we all with different backgrounds and stories, but all with the same purpose of sharing our lives and experiences to hopefully inspire someone out there and say “you’re not alone”, “anything is possible”, “you are beautiful and amazing in your own way ” and “your story needs to be told and heard”, etc. Massive thanks to Jaya Mc Intyre and Roxanne McCarty-O’Kane for their hard work, for trusting my journey and for inviting me to be part of such an amazing project. Also thanks to my beautiful 3 boys Johann, Sean and Chris for always being my fuel and my inspiration, to my amazing partner Darron for being my rock and for your love and support, to my good friends in Australia and to my family in Costa Rica for always encouraging me to keep going and never give up, I will always cherish you all! 😘🙏🏼🫶

The Festival 2025 was held at on Friday and Saturday. Very busy but 4 spectacular shows full of talented people, art and great energy.
