Just to recap on the history of barbering.
Barbering has been around for centuries, dating back to ancient Egypt and Greece. Barbers in these times were not only responsible for cutting hair but also for performing surgeries, bloodletting, and even dentistry.
During the Middle Ages, barbers became more specialized in hair cutting and grooming. They also began to offer services such as shaving and beard trimming. Barbershops became popular gathering places for men to socialize and discuss current events.
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, barbering became a respected profession. Barbers were trained in a variety of techniques and styles, and many owned their own shops. The barber pole, with its red and white stripes, became a symbol of the profession.
The invention of electric clippers in the early 20th century revolutionized the industry, making hair cutting faster and more efficient. During this time, barbers also began to offer more modern services such as hair coloring and perms.
Today, barbering continues to evolve with the introduction of new techniques and styles. Barbering schools and apprenticeships are available for those interested in pursuing a career in the industry. Barbershops remain popular gathering places for men, and many have expanded to offer services for women as well.
