The diagnostic blind spot 👀

240 people contacted the BBC about TSW and many felt unheard.
Regulators acknowledged it in 2021… so why are patients still struggling to be recognised?

Here’s the gap:
TSW was formally recognized, and guidance was updated in 2024.
But until recently, there were no clear diagnostic criteria.

Meaning?
Clinicians have been working without a proper framework.

That’s now changing.
A Modified Delphi Method is being used to define TSW clinically but we’re not there yet.

We’re building integrated support: dermatology + mental health + lifestyle.

If you’ve experienced TSW or severe eczema, we want your voice in this.

Hot showers might feel amazing on chilly mornings or unpredictable spring days, but your skin may not agree.

Hot water can strip away natural oils and worsen psoriasis symptoms. Switching to warm, not hot, showers helps protect your skin barrier and keep it healthier.

And don’t forget your cleanser! Harsh soaps can dry things out, so choose gentle, emollient washes that cleanse without disrupting your skin’s natural balance.

If you have flare-prone skin, you've probably heard a lot of conflicting advice; some approaches focus on quick relief and others on long-term prevention and care. Some are made using ingredients found in your kitchen, others are filled with harsh chemicals you can't pronounce. And unfortunately, there's no magic solution that works for everyone.

Every skin is different. Our formulations are designed to offer long-term care and flare relief for a wide range of skin types, colours, and conditions. Join us in our skincare revolution.

Your gut and your skin are more connected than you may think. We recognise the link between gut health and skin health, and how inflammation, balance, and internal wellbeing can all show up on the surface. Supporting your skin is about what you apply to its surface, but also about how you care for your body as a whole.

Carl, The Clearing's Project Lead, has curated an anti-inflammatory stew recipe which supports both skin and gut health whilst providing comforting nourishment on these changeable spring days.
