I don’t have a regular mom… I have a cool mom lol.
My whole life people have compared me to her same face, same mannerisms, same drive. Life was tough on us. Life separated us. It shaped a relationship that wasn’t always easy. We’re not the picture-perfect family, but I wouldn’t change it for anything… because every twist in our story led us exactly to where we’re meant to be today.
She is a great woman. And I’ve grown into a woman I’m proud to be.
Today I want to honor what I admire most about my mother:
1. Her fearlessness.
She throws herself into the hardest situations and always finds a way to rise.
2. Her confidence.
Forever a DIVA. You probably saw her on your favorite early 2000’s shows Caliente, Despierta América, TV Control, Casos de La Vida Real, 12 Corazones… the list goes on.
3. Her resilience.
I had it tough growing up but the truth is, she had it tougher. Leaving Mexico City for Los Angeles, she survived. She made it out. She made a name for herself. She messed up. She learned. She grew. And she kept going.

I say this as someone who used to pour into everyone else and left myself last.
I thought that’s what love was.

It’s really important that you DO NOT listen to your parents when they tell you las amigas no existen because although I grew up hearing that, that’s not the reality I have created for myself. Girlhood is sooooo beautiful & important ❤️ they enhance life’s experiences for you & I wouldn’t trade that reality & experience for nothing else!
