I've been doing a lot of makeup work lately... Most of it goes unphotographed, whether it's due to time constraints, forgetfulness, or my lack of photography skills.

Despite not always having visual proof, I truly enjoy the process - it's therapeutic for me. Sometimes the best part is just the journey of creating, even if no one else gets to see it.

10 things that you actually get when you book my services ...

1. 15 years of professional makeup experience. I actually started doing bridal makeup and hair in 2005. My cousin's wife had asked me to do her makeup for her wedding. She hadn't booked a hairdresser and the person who was meant to do her hair didn't work out so I stepped in. I was working as an assistant in a hair salon at the time, and in week before we had an upstyle demo by one of the hairdressers. So I just basically recreated what I'd seen. Four years later in 2009, I did my makeup course and 3 months later started working at a makeup agency.

2. You get old school professionalism. I have a very strong work ethic and am a perfectionist. I won't drop you for a more favourable or bigger booking. Once you have booked me, I am committed.

3. I book only one wedding per day. After 15 years I have learned that it's okay to just take one wedding booking and not have to run around. It allows me to work at a calm and measured pace.

4. You get premium products. I don't cut corners - you're not going to find cheap or untested products in my kit. I only use reputable brands, and I research any new products that I buy.

5. I plan my time to have you ready at the time that you want to be ready. I work according to a schedule to ensure that you don't run late. I am also aware that there are various things that require your attention on the day, and if time gets away I will gently and kindly remind you that we need to get back on track. I am committed to keeping good time.

6. I have a calm demeanor and believe that it's important to bring peaceful energy to my workspace.

7. You get long-lasting makeup look that enhances your natural beauty. My technique ensures your glam stays fresh all day and all night. When I do your makeup trial, I always encourage my clients to wear the makeup for as long as possible to test its longevity. I once had a client who wore their makeup for 2 days. (I absolutely do not recommend this)

8. I believe that makeup is a very personal service. It is not a one size fits all approach. It has to suit your personality. I would not try to make you look like someone else entirely. I listen to your needs. I prefer to highlight your best features while working correctively on your areas of concern.

9. I am skilled at doing various makeup looks from ultra natural to full glam. I am able to provide a perfect skin match that blends seamlessly with your natural skin tone. I have a range of colours in my makeup kit and am able to work on a variety of skin tones.

10. I am mobile makeup artist and hair stylist. I travel to your home, office or studio. This allows you to save on time, and effectively streamline your day.

I absolutely love this beautiful lady. She is kind, calm, talented and loyal. She values family and had a tight knit friendship circle that spans decades.

I met Ava in 2020. She was a bridesmaid for my last wedding before the national lock down started. Several months later I had the privilege of doing her makeup again for a shoot. A young gentleman came to pick her up and gosh did he make her smile. Being with Zaheer has just made her blossom. These two are such a special match and a reminder that you should never settle because you never know when you will meet that special "One".

Ava and Zaheer got married in Ballito in May 2023 and it was the most beautiful dayi also got to do Ava's makeup and hair for her night before function.

They have been featured in magazine which offers a glimpse into their special day.

It is my absolute privilege to be able to go on a journey with the special women that I meet. Relationships are truly the most rewarding currency.

If you've never met me.....

I am Lynnal Dickson, a makeup artist and hair stylist who has worked in the industry for the past 14 years. This craft gives me life and fills my tank. I moved to Johannesburg from Durban in February 2021 and I absolutely love it here. I still take wedding bookings in Durban and enjoy a visit home to see my family.

The best part of my job is that I get to meet and connect with so many wonderful people and hear their stories. I am relational and I love that I get to journey with my clients - through matric dances, bridal showers, weddings, maternity shoots and milestone birthdays. I have worked on TV shows, Magazine shoots, Fashion Shows and Wedding Shoots throughout my career.

I am a wife to who is a 2 times Survivor South Africa castaway. We have two young daughters who love art and already love makeup.
