There are a lot of questions surrounding spicules right now, but one of the most common is:

“Do spicules truly dissolve in the skin?”

The answer requires a little clarification.

Natural cosmetic spicules are primarily composed of silica-based skeletal structures derived from marine (and even freshwater) sponges. When applied topically, they do not simply “melt” or instantly dissolve like a water-soluble ingredient.
