A four (4) year old boy was pronounced deceased during a medical emergency in Verulam - KZN this afternoon (Wednesday, 17/06/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to Trenance Park - KZN at approximately 17:28 after a resident requested urgent medical assistance for the child. While RUSA Paramedics were en route, family members transported the minor to RUSA Headquarters.

A short while later, he began vomiting violently and became unresponsive. His family immediately expedited him for emergency medical intervention.

WeFeedSA Clean-Up Campaign – Verulam
Participants from WeFeedSA were actively involved in a clean-up campaign at Mount View Secondary School in Verulam.
The dense bush along the pathway from Russom Street to Old Inanda Road had become a haven for criminal activity.
In recent weeks, several schoolchildren have fallen victim to crime by individuals hiding in the overgrown vegetation.
Our WeFeedSA team responded immediately and volunteered to assist with clearing the area, helping to create a safer environment for both learners and parents.
The team also assisted the school in cleaning up the school grounds.
Well done to the team for a job well done and for their commitment to keeping our children safer.

Verulam Members, some major news for our community safety.
Through the Verulam Connect Safety network, we have officially secured a R51,900 sponsorship from our partners at Sentiv (Pty) Ltd. 8 portable radios, 2 base radios, (PTToC (Push-to-Talk over Cellular) 1 year of vodacom airtime (will be extended after 1 year should this be a success), Dual pocket chargers and power supply units to keep all units operational around the clock. We can motivate and request should we require more devices.
Sentiv is a leader in mission-critical communications, supplying the same systems used by government and law enforcement nationwide.
The Mission: Professional Communication
We’ve all seen the reality, from hijacked vehicles disappearing into our outskirts to various other crimes affecting our streets.
We are deploying high-end Hytera 4G Radios with full KZN coverage. No dead zones, no dropped signals. This technology is for active members both in our outskirts and within the heart of Verulam to ensure we stay one step ahead.
The Deployment Plan:
• 7 Portable Radios: Stationed with active members
- 1 portable Radio: Dedicated to the Verulam Business Forum.
- 2 Base Stations: To anchor and command the entire network.
As a neutral member of this community, my goal is simple: Results.
Distribution is being handled in full consultation with the Verulam CPF and aligned with SAPS frameworks.
Every operator will receive a unique call sign and professional radio etiquette training to ensure we operate at a law enforcement standard.
This isn't about any one person, company or department, it’s about building the professional infrastructure Verulam deserves to keep our families safe.
Huge gratitude to Sentiv for investing in our people, this initiative will start in Verulam and move to other areas of KZN and South Africa.
