Happy pLabor Day

Good morning, neighbors, friends, and fellow workers,

Today we pause to honor the hands that built this community. Every road we drive, every meal on our table, every school that opens its doors — it all starts with labor. And as both a farmer and someone asking for your trust to be your next mayor, I’ve seen that truth from two sides.

On the farm, Labor Day isn’t just a holiday. It’s 5 AM in the fields when the dew is still on the maize. It’s the crew that shows up in the rain because the harvest won’t wait. It’s the mechanic who keeps the tractor running, the mother who packs lunch for the team, the young worker learning that dignity comes from doing hard things well. Agriculture feeds this city, and it’s the farmworkers who feed agriculture. To them I say: we see you, we thank you, and we will fight for fair wages, safe conditions, and respect year-round not just one day a year.

As your aspiring mayor, I know a city only grows when its workers thrive. The same values I live by on the farm are the ones I’ll bring to City Hall:

1. Dignity of work.
2. Opportunity with fairness.
3. Stewardship.

Labor Day reminds us that we’re not just individuals clocking in. We’re neighbors building something together. The teacher, the nurse, the bus driver, the farmhand — we all carry this community on our backs.

If you entrust me with the office of mayor, I will be the chief collaborator. I will measure our success not by how busy my office looks, but by how united this district feels. I ll host open district forums quarterly. I ll make sure information flows down and feedback flows up. Because leadership is not about being in front - it s about making sure no one is left behind.

Chongwe did not become strong by chance. Zambia will not develop by accident. Districts move forward when people link arms and say, "This is ours to build."

So I ask you, let s choose partnership over politics. Let's choose progress over pride. Let's choose each other.

Together, this district can become the model others look to. Let s start today.

Let's Work Together as a District.

Fellow residents, councilors, chiefs, civil servants, and friends of our great district, Chongwe.

I stand before you not yet as your mayor, but as your neighbor. As someone who walks these same streets, shops in these same markets, and dreams the same dreams for our children.

Our district is like a bicycle wheel. Each office, each ward, each school, each clinic is a spoke. If one spoke is loose, the whole wheel wobbles. If all spokes are strong and aligned, we can carry heavy loads and go far.
Challenges we face do not respect departmental boundaries. Poor roads affect farmers, traders, teachers, and nurses alike. Youth unemployment touches every home. Good health in one ward means a stronger workforce for the whole district. We rise together, or we struggle apart.

What I believe in,
As your aspiring mayor, I m not coming with all the answers. I m coming with a commitment, to break silos. My office will not be an island. It will be a bridge.
- Between the council and our traditional leaders.
- Between government departments and private enterprise.
- Between the plans we write and the people we serve.
Let's work together for a common and improve chongwe.
