Clarification on the biannual injectable ARVs which will be rolled out in January. Currently we have Cabotegravir (Cab-La) which is a two month injectable PrEP but lenacapavir is a twice a year injectable ARV. It's used both for prevention and treatment but it will be rolled out as PrEP and not for treatment. I also learned about this yesterday from the officials from MOH. I asked when we will get the one for treatment and I was not given an exact date so let's just continue waiting. All in all, we are making progress in HIV prevention and treatment.

It's quite demeaning and deafening learning that people are still not educated about HIV. let's endeavor to preach and sensitive this cause. If you are not INFECTED then definitely you are AFFECTED.

If HIV cannot be transmitted through Saliva why then have mouth test kits?

It is an offence, actually it is punishable by the law to disclose ones' HIV status without His/Her consent.

WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME FOR PARENTS TO DISCLOSE THE HIV STATUS OF THEIR CHILDREN BORN WITH HIV?

While it can be extremely difficult to disclose information about HIV to children, it is better to tell your children as early as you can, especially once they start asking questions. It is usually easier to tell the truth than to try to cover up the diagnosis. Once children are aware of their HIV diagnosis, the family can start discussing things openly and dealing with the feelings that may come up.

Here are some tips that may help make disclosure easier for you and your children:

√Deal with your own feelings first. Understand your own emotions about living with the diagnosis (yours and/or theirs).
√Build a strong parent-child relationship
Seek out support for yourself from friends, social workers, counselors, and others both before, during and after disclosure
√Prepare by gathering HIV-related information, creating an appropriate environment, and arranging support for your children
√Find a time to disclose that is free from interruptions and appointments
√Try to be as relaxed and positive as possible before the conversation begins. Even if you feel anxious or sad, being relaxed and OK with your own feelings can help your children trust you and be open to their own feelings.
√Disclosure is a process. It will likely involve several conversations. Even if your children do not respond the way you hoped right away, with time, support, and information, they may be more accepting.
√Know that your children may respond differently from what you are expecting. √Understanding the HIV diagnosis may take some time, particularly with children. √Continuously give them space, support and information; in due time, they may be more understanding and accepting.
√Encourage your children to ask questions as they come up.
Give reassurance and hugs! And make sure you get some, too!

If you take care of yourself and you follow what you're supposed to do and you stay in care, you will be OK. Be positive. There's a whole lot of life ahead of you. Don't give up.

Are u cured when one reaches Undetactable= untransmittable while living with HIV?

No. Some people who take their treatment well can achieve a viral load so low that it is called ‘undetectable’. This also means they can’t pass HIV on to others. However, this doesn’t mean that they’re cured, as HIV is still present in their body.

Can prayer cure HIV?

No. Faith helps many people to deal with the difficulties of having HIV. But taking antiretroviral treatment is the only way you can stay healthy. Religion can be good for support, but you should also visit your healthcare worker for treatment and medical advice and take treatment as prescribed.

Thus such can lead to alot of unforseen circumstances which may include dishonesty resulting into diseases inclusively.

Anxiety and Depression can lead to non-adherence when it comes to HIV. How then do you get motivated to take your meds regardless of the challenges life throws at us? I have realised that in the HIV life cycle there's a phase called TREATMENT Exhaustion it's common on those who have been taking arvs for a long time. Where you find a person is just tired of taking treatment especially if they are physically well.There is a lot that can lead a person to that phase and unfortunately it will still take that person to get out of it There's many reasons why people aren't adhering to treatment correctly and other reasons are failure to Disclose to family or partner,Denial of the situation " testing positive for HIV" and many more.If you are struggling with any of these I pray that you gather strength to take control of your life by taking your meds, also find someone to talk to♥️♥️
