Mary bids farewell to ZNBC after 16 years!

Broadcaster Mary Kasoka-Mwiikisa has officially ended her 16-year career at the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC), delivering her final presentation of Morning Live from Studio 2 today.

In an emotional announcement shared shortly after walking out of the studio, Kasoka-Mwiikisa described the day as one of the most difficult of her career, but said she was leaving with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the journey.

She called it a bittersweet moment, admitting the walk out of the studio came with teary eyes.

Over the course of her tenure, Kasoka-Mwiikisa moved through several facets of the newsroom and studio floor, from production to the newsdesk and programme production.

Her on-air work spanned some of ZNBC's most recognisable programmes, including Climate Check, Morning Live, Kwacha Good Morning Zambia, Real Love, Baby Talk, Africa Music Safari, and Let's Talk, among others.

In her farewell message, she extended appreciation to ZNBC management for the trust and platform to grow within public broadcasting, and thanked her colleagues for years of camaraderie and support.

She also acknowledged the corporation's viewers, saying their loyalty and feedback made every broadcast worthwhile, and thanked her family and friends for the sacrifices that carried her through demanding days on the job.

Despite closing the chapter at ZNBC, Kasoka-Mwiikisa signalled she is not stepping away from public life. She said her passion for communicating and informing remains as strong as ever, and framed her exit not as a goodbye but as the beginning of a new chapter in service to Zambia.

Kasoka-Mwiikisa's departure marks the end of one of the more recognisable tenures in Zambian broadcasting in recent years, with industry watchers likely to keep an eye on where her "new capacity" of service takes her next.
