..Paul Tembo urges gyms to promote unity as counting continues after August 13 general elections

LUSAKA — President of Fitness Physiques Africa - Zambia, Paul Tembo, has called on athletes to shun political violence following the August 13 general elections.

Speaking on Friday, as counting and announcement of results from the presidential, parliamentary and council elections are still ongoing, Tembo said the fitness community must uphold peace, unity and discipline.

“As President of Fitness Physiques Africa - Zambia, I urge all athletes to stay away from political violence,” Tembo said.

“We are promoters of peace, unity and discipline. Our gyms unite all Zambians regardless of party or tribe. Let us protect that spirit and be examples in our communities and Zambia at large.”

Tembo added that gym owners, coaches and athletes must lead by example and help maintain calm while the Electoral Commission of Zambia concludes the announcement of results.
