SOUND ADVICE FOR ALL WHO ARE FASTING - NOT ONLY DIABETICS
Some helpful advice to our Diabetic friends to make fasting a safer experience during this holy month of Ramadan.
If your are diabetic and fasting, controlling your blood sugar levels is critical; speak to your doctor or dietician if you are facing difficulties.
Think carefully of how to break your fast.
Avoid the traditional dates on offer. Instead start with water. Small sips. Follow that with a soup , lentil soup is good, one small bowl , and follow the old age advice of small sips , pausing between each mouthful.
Keep your meal light.
Eat greens and salads; add apple vinegar to your salad dressing.
It's been found that taking apple vinegar with a meal can slow the digestion of carbohydrates in that meal and slow the rate of absorption of sugar into the blood.
Take the time to chew, and savour each and every mouthful.
So many diabetic friends abuse the wonders of modern medicine in order to cheat and eat the poisonous food that sugar can be for us.
Don't fall prey to the delicious sweets on offer no matter how tempting and delicious they may be .
Let this holy month help you Detox your body of this potential poison.
Resist ! Look after your health, and experience the true meaning and value of Ramadan , and let it be the true spiritual journey it is meant it to be.

Sound advice for Diabetics .
Managing Your during
Your treating doctor will decide if it is possible for you to fast safely during Ramadan or not.
Please consult your doctor if you wish to fast.
These are general guidelines:
1. To fast safely, careful planning and constant monitoring of your blood glucose are essential in order to avoid the associated complications of low or high blood sugar.
2. Glucose control (medical and dietary counseling is important):
a. Follow a controlled diet for diabetics.
b. Plan your daily activities and exercises.
c. Adjust your medication.
3. Do not overeat at Iftar and/or Suhur meals.
4. Have a short nap in the afternoon.
5. Drink plenty of water. Medical counseling is crucial in case you have kidney or heart problems.
6. Fasting helps control blood sugar level for type 2 patients who are treated by diet and oral medication.
7. Type 2 diabetics who are free of diabetes-associated complications can fast safely under doctor's observation.
8. Insulin-requiring patients with type 2 diabetes who take more than one insulin injection can fast provided that doses and timings of injections are adjusted as per the doctor's advice.
9. Take your other prescribed medications such as anti- hypertensive, anti-cholesterol and heart medications regularly.

Go out and get a little sunlight in your life.
When sun exposure is sufficient, dietary sources are almost not required .
Vitamin D - The bone vitamin: Helps in the metabolism of fats and retaining calcium in the bones and teeth. The body produces its need from this vitamin provided there is enough skin exposure to the Sun.
1 – Natural resources: mushrooms -yeast - sun bathing - rarely found in plants.
