Are home nail kits like Glamrdip and Sistaco worth the hype? Let’s break it down... 💅

As a nail and beauty educator with 15+ years of experience, my biggest issue with these products isn’t just the kits themselves — it’s the marketing. It’s giving SNS flashbacks, riding the same gravy train except with a new flashier packaging.

🧐 Here’s my honest, professional take on both:

✨ Glamrdip

Glamrdip claims their dip powders are “healthier” for your nails. Let’s be real — dip powders are acrylic powder + nail glue. That’s it.

Yes, they say their powders include vitamins and keratin. Possibly in the oils that come with the kit — but infused into the acrylic powder? Highly unlikely. 🤥

Their “Remove” liquid is acetone with a dash of conditioner — still acetone. The droppers and activators? Just nail glue with chemicals like ethyl acetate and acetic acid ethyl ester.

🧪 They don’t contain MMA (methyl methacrylate) — good! But they do contain EMA (ethyl methacrylate) — exactly what’s in every standard acrylic powder legally sold in Australia.

👉 Bottom line: It’s not “healthier.” It’s still acrylic + glue, dressed up with fancy words and marketing.

💫 Sistaco

Sistaco is a simpler version — mica powder + gel base, cured under a lamp. It looks cute but peels easily and doesn’t last.

It’s essentially sparkly dust brushed onto your natural nails — no structure, no strength, and no durability.

❌ The real issue? People constantly applying and removing these products without proper training. That’s where the damage starts — repeated exposure leads to chemical sensitivity and allergic reactions over time.

💸 Sure, these kits seem cheaper than going to a trained tech — but the long-term damage from poor application and removal will cost you more.

I compare them to box hair dye — fine for a quick fix, but you’ll pay the price in the long run. 🎭

No nail product is “healthy” for your nails. What protects your nails is knowledge, skill, and safe application and removal. Period. 🚫
