I originally wasn’t going to post anything about this to be honest but this is currently our reality, I like to post mostly fun boat life adventures but I also like to keep it real. I haven’t posted a great deal of our (raw) life these last 6 months (it’s mainly been the beautiful places we have been) as I am so so grateful to be pregnant and to be bringing another beautiful baby into this world. I know how lucky I am to be pregnant when many are struggling. So it’s felt insensitive to come on here and complain or whinge but that doesn’t change the fact that this pregnancy has been by far the hardest thing I have ever done. The first 18 weeks I was completely bed ridden with HG (hyperemesis gravidarum) we spent the majority of that time sailing in super remote places with no access to hospitals or even a grocery store, words can’t describe how hard some sail days were. Since around 22 weeks I have been in debilitating back and pelvis pain which most days means I can’t walk more than a few meters without insane pain that lasts all day and night. Now this… 🤯 It’s definitely time for me to get off the boat and back to Aus and hopefully start to feel a bit better as much as the thought of leaving Fiji and boat life absolutely breaks my heart 😭😭
Anyway that’s my little life update that no one asked for but saves me explaining it over and over again when people see that I’m in Australia without Owen and Happy girl. šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Well that was an extremely eventful two days on the mainland trying to get our 20 week anatomy scan.
The first scan was not reassuring at all we went back to the hotel feeling very deflated and I spent all night talking to a beautiful midwife friend back in Aus and getting OB’s opinions on the scan results and looking at flights back to Australia followed by a long night of throwing up (thank you little baby). After a big breakfast and a very strong coffee I called in for a second scan with someone else before we had to catch the ferry back to Happy and the lady was lovely and very thorough I left feeling so much more content even if I was charged $780 for a scan they usually charge me $80 for šŸ˜…. I will never take the medical system in Australia for granted ever again, there really is so much care and so many options back home that you just take for granted until you are faced with the medical system in another country.

Well I can honestly say I didn’t think this is how I would be spending this years Mother’s Day šŸ˜…
After an incredible few weeks exploring around the Lau group our trip was cut a little short, at 5am Friday morning when we’re heading out of a bit of a sketchy pass to sail to the next island and we ā€œkissed the reefā€. This meant instead of heading to the next paradise island to explore with our friends we had an impromptu 290mile sail straight to Vuda marina to be hauled out, check and then fix the damage. We arrived this morning everyone’s absolutely exhausted and over it. It’s been a big day getting big Happy girl out of the water and set up on the hard stand ready for her repairs tomorrow! Luckily the damage isn’t quite as bad as we thought (although the sound of the boat hitting the reef will give me nightmares I swear)!
I am now requesting next Sunday as my Mother’s Day because I feel extremely ripped off šŸ˜‚
