10 Years in Business!
March 2026 marks 10 years since I started working for myself!
Here’s a walk down memory lane!

- Rosie Hevey was the reason for all of this, I don’t think I’ll ever not be grateful for the start she gave me doing my placement in her salon and then looking after the place when she was on mat leave. “Hazel Claire Beauty Therapy” was born.
- Got to experience going into my own space and making it my own. Learnt some lessons on commercial realestate (not the best realestate at that 🤪) Also started renting space to some other ladies in business.
- New name! Took me being in business for a year before I found the name I loved - Zen Body & Beauty.
- Moved back into where I first started - was glad to be renting privately (Doug is an amazing landlord, was such a refreshing experience).
- Had my first baby and navigated business while being Mum - the start of only working 1-2 days a week 😬.
- Shut down for Covid lockdown #1
- Pregnant with my 2nd and making the decision after being thrown into another lockdown (this one even longer, beauty really coped it in this one) that beauty & business just wasn’t for me anymore - time to dedicate my time 100% to my family.
- Selling my equipment and clients to the beautiful Zanetta (Zee & Me)
- Removed myself completely from the beauty and business world for nearly 2 years until becoming friends with Lamice (La Beauté)
- Lamice pulled me out of retirement and got me reopening my business in her salon. Something I had been so adamant on not doing up until this point. Found my passion for it again (another beauty boss to be forever thankful for), had so many regular clients return to me.
- Finally! Baby #3, this time being super sad about leaving everyone (again) & wanting the best of both worlds (to stay home with baby but also some how go to work 🤪)
- Kasey Thomas giving me an amazing opportunity to take on some of her bookings, now I’m back!

Grateful for the clients that have been with me for 10 years, followed me through name changes, babies and location changes. I’ve found the treatments that I love doing, not running myself ragged trying to offer everything just because I’m qualified to do it (Lesson learnt after baby #1 & my back not coping 😂).

The business has allowed me to be there 100% for my family (and let’s be honest, so has Scotty’s job) I’ll always be thankful for everyone that has supported me along the way 🤎

If you supported my business since my return.. thank you. Building clientele 4 times isn’t an easy thing to do but it’s been made easier by some truly beautiful people. The ones that rebooked the second they saw I was returning or messaged to say they’d be back in the new year, ladies that never bothered to go any else, quietly & patiently waiting for me to come back & the new people of met since.. you all make me love what I do 🤎
