When Verity and I met, it was an instant connection.
Two women meeting at exactly the right time in life — both needing each other, both holding so much respect for one another from the very first conversation.

Fast forward to today… and my beautiful, wise, thoughtful and endlessly supportive friend has made her little girl dream come true.
Opening show at Australian Fashion Week 2026. ✨

Being beside you through all of these moments — the event design, the hair, the endless hours of laughter, support, vision and creativity — has been such a gift.

You truly are one of the brightest lights to ever come into my life.

And this… this is only the beginning of something spectacular.
Your story, your legacy, your commitment to your family history and the way you’ve woven it so beautifully into fashion is beyond inspiring.

But more than anything, you’ve taught me what true friendship really feels like.
You’ve shown me that when two women come together genuinely wanting the best for one another, the world becomes limitless.

So Verity, my friend — congratulations.
And thank you for letting me be part of it all with you.

You are an absolute blessing in my life 🤍 A huge thank you to supporting behind the hair and to my incredible partner for helping us every step of the way. Here’s to the brightest future .hair

Well… it’s been a week.
And I feel like I need to start here.

This is education — not attack.

I’ve been in this industry a long time and corrected a lot of hair.
That’s why I own my place as an educator — for both my guests and the hairstylists wondering “why am I not getting it?”

For me, it’s simple:

Consultation is everything.
Application is everything.
Peroxide choice is everything.
Rinsing according to placement and timing is everything.

And the biggest mistake I see —
rinsing too early… and overprocessing everything else.

And the QUEEN…
Toning.

Get out of the basin and into a chair.
It’s the most precise part of your colour.

This was a toner-only correction.

Why?
Because there was no need to damage the hair further —
and because understanding the hair will always outperform overworking it.

For hairstylists — education is everything.
For clients — colour can be fixed, breakage takes time.

Low and slow always wins.

Amy is fully booked until May,
Alex is now in salon, trained by me 🤍

If your hair feels like it’s in the pits —
sometimes… a toner is all it takes.

A lot of truth — and a lot of courage — went into this.

Getting unwell changed everything for me.
It made me see what I’d been ignoring for years.

I was never meant to show up the way the industry expected me to.
So I stopped trying… and started rebuilding my world instead.

10 years of H&H —
to my own space, Amy Zee.

An identity shift I didn’t see coming…
but one I needed.

Zero regrets. Only pride.

From education, touring, building salons and teams —
to now doing it all in a way that actually feels like me.

25 years in this industry…
started at 14… now 39 😆
and I’ve never felt more clear.

I didn’t build my name by performing for a camera —
Confidence is different for everyone - honour yourself & if you want the change be it.

I’ll share, teach and create…
just in my way💡

Today feels really special ✨

I’m so excited to officially welcome Alexandra as a Senior Stylist at Amy Zee Hair.

This isn’t your typical story… this is what it looks like when someone chooses you at 14, trusts you to guide them, and then years later chooses to stand beside you.

Alexandra, you are something rare. Your loyalty, your heart, your work ethic… I’ve watched you grow through every season — the highs, the challenges, and everything in between. And through it all, you always knew I was just a call away.

Almost 6 years later, you’re fully qualified — and I couldn’t be prouder.

When I say I created a mini me… I mean it in the best way. But the truth is, you’ve become your own kind of incredible.

Alexandra is now officially available in salon and live online for bookings for all new, existing & future guests 🤍

As we continue to grow, we’re stepping into a more elevated, one-on-one luxury experience, working with our premium brands and creating something really special for every client who walks through our doors.

I’ll always be here — guiding you, laughing with you, and watching you shine just like I knew you would from day one.

Alexandra, thank you for choosing me then… and choosing this journey again now.

Everything always works out 🤍

Bookings via the link in bio — we can’t wait to welcome you. GET ONLINE NOW - WE ARE BACK ❤️

A milestone in my recovery 🫶

This chapter has tested me in ways I never expected. Multiple infections, surgery, long days and longer nights… but through it all, I’ve been held by my wonderful partner.

You have been my constant — from emergency rooms to quiet moments at home, never once making it feel heavy. I don’t know how I would have done this without you. I feel safe. I feel loved.

Thank you for stepping into my life and transforming it. I adore you beyond words ❤️

Family is everything and I’m grateful beyond words.

To my beautiful clients at .hair — Verity and I will reach out next week as we prepare to reopen in March. I’m so grateful for your patience and support but for now I must recover & get excited for the next best version of me & this wonderful life 🤍

04/02/2026

To all of my beautiful guests at Amy Zee Hair,

It’s with deep sadness that I share my salon will remain closed until March.

As I write this, I feel incredibly blessed — things could have been so much worse if I had continued pushing through. As stylists we often just keep going… but this time, my body stopped me.
I’ve just been released from hospital after three major infections that sent my body septic. While I recover, I kindly ask for your patience as I reach out to everyone who has lost their appointment.

Guests who had appointments booked will receive first priority once I’m back.
My books will remain closed for now and will reopen to current clients only when I return.

Each day I’m improving, and once I’ve fully recovered from the infections, I’ll undergo surgery to remove my gallbladder — so your continued understanding means the world. Even on the hardest days, I remain positive, optimistic, and so deeply grateful for the respectful and caring messages so many of you have sent.

More updates to come soon.

Warm regards & big love,
Amy Zee

This is such a good example of why great colour isn’t just about how it looks on the day…

For my clients:
This transformation wasn’t about going lighter just because we could. It was about refining the blonde, softening the regrowth, and creating a blend that grows out really really well. Notice how the colour feels seamless through the mids, the tone stays soft (not brassy or dull), and the brightness is placed where it makes sense long-term.
Because what’s the point of amazing hair if it only lasts two weeks?

For my hairdressers:
This result comes down to placement, restraint, and really understanding the starting canvas. We worked with existing warmth, controlled the lift, and used intentional face framing to create brightness without pushing the hair too far. The root blend is deliberate, not rushed, so the client isn’t locked into high-maintenance appointments.
How often do we see blondes that look great in photos but are a nightmare to maintain? This is about thinking ahead.

Beautiful, healthy-looking hair usually isn’t the result of doing more. It’s knowing when to stop!

And for stylists curious about education — this is exactly what I focus on. Colour that grows out well, clients who trust you, and techniques that protect hair integrity while still delivering visual impact. Because isn’t that what we’re all aiming for?

There was a time when this version of my life felt really far away.

Not because I didn’t want it badly enough, but because building something from the ground up asks more of you than anyone prepares you for. Long days. Self-doubt. Doing hard things quietly, over and over again, without knowing exactly how it will turn out.

I’ve failed more times than I can count. I’ve questioned myself. I’ve almost stopped.
But every time, I tried one more time.

This business wasn’t built overnight. It was built through showing up on the days it felt uncomfortable, backing myself when it would’ve been easier not to, and learning as I went. There was no perfect plan, just persistence.

So if you’re in a season where things feel heavy, uncertain, or hard, this is your reminder. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to keep going.

You can do hard things.
And sometimes, that’s exactly what makes you unstoppable.

Love, AZ xx

Did you know we have an in-salon makeup artist?

This client visited us for both hair and makeup for her special event... Because let's be honest, why drive to multiple places (and spend more money on petrol) when you can have everything done in the heart of the salon?
