Your skincare routine could be affecting your brow appointment more than you realise. 👀

When we wax, we’re removing hair while also placing some mechanical stress on the skin. If the skin is already more sensitive, exfoliated or vulnerable from certain skincare ingredients, it may not respond to waxing the same way.

Ingredients such as retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, PHAs, benzoyl peroxide and other exfoliating or prescription strength treatments can all be important to consider.

Depending on the product, strength, frequency of use and your individual skin, waxing may increase the risk of:

→ Redness and irritation
→ Increased sensitivity
→ Skin lifting
→ A longer recovery time

And this is why there isn’t a simple “stop your skincare 24 hours before waxing” rule that works for everyone. Some products require much more caution and skin may remain sensitive even after you’ve stopped using them.

The important part? Tell your brow artist what you’re using.

Your skincare routine is just as important to your brow history as previous tinting, lamination or waxing.

If waxing isn’t appropriate, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to miss your brow appointment. Tweezing or simply leaving the area alone may be more suitable.

A little heads up before October 🤍

With the changes coming to card surcharges, I’ve had to have a think about how I want to handle payments at Brow Society moving forward.

For me, it comes down to keeping things simple and making sure I’m making decisions that make sense for my business long term.

So from 1 October, payments will be via PayID, bank transfer or cash.

I know it’s a small change, but I’d much rather put that money towards continuing to learn, invest in my business and bring you the best possible services 🤍

As requested by the lash artists 🤌🏼 the lash extension timeline you need to know.

Your extensions are attached to your natural lashes and as your natural lashes grow and shed, your extensions do too. It’s completely normal for your set to gradually become less full between appointments.

✨ 1–2 weeks: Fresh, full + a little grow out begins.
✨ 2–3 weeks: More natural shedding + the sweet spot for an infill.
✨ 3–4 weeks: Noticeably fewer lashes + more grown out extensions. An infill may still be possible, but it can often become a full set.

And remember.. grown out extensions need to be removed, not simply infilled over. They can place extra stress on the natural lash and become difficult to maintain. The health of your lashes is always a priority.
