A CLASSIC TECHNIQUE I DON’T GET TO DO VERY OFTEN ANYMORE 🤍

Yesterday I welcomed back a client after around six months without her nails while she was busy doing renovations.

Her request, is always permanent pink & whites (french nails)

These days, we often see a nail enhancement created first and the white French tip painted on afterwards with gel polish.

This is different.

With the reverse method, I create the pink nail bed first. Using a core cover powder also allows me to create the illusion of a longer nail bed if I wish, giving me control over the proportions and placement of the smile line.

Once the pink is placed, I refine the edge of the smile line with a diamond file. This creates a clean, defined edge for the white acrylic to sit against.

When applying the white, I actually overlap it very slightly onto the pink. This ensures the entire smile line is filled without leaving any tiny gaps.

That little bit of overlap isn't a mistake! During finish filing, the excess is removed and the beautifully clean, crisp smile line underneath is revealed. 🤍

The result is a French that isn't painted on — the pink and white are permanently built into the enhancement itself.

And why does this particular client still prefer permanent pink & whites?

Because she'll pick off gel colour… 😂
But she NEVER picks off her acrylic!

So permanent French it is!

I don't get the opportunity to do this technique nearly as often these days, which made this set particularly satisfying to create.
