✂️ Hairdressing is a skilled profession, not a hobby. 💯

This week, the Australian Hairdressing Council wrote to the Chair of the Productivity Commission to oppose suggestions to remove mandatory qualifications for hairdressers.

Removing qualifications would:
⚠️ Put client and worker safety at risk
⚠️ Undermine wages and career pathways
⚠️ Weaken TAFE and RTO training
⚠️ Risk a return to unskilled migration and cowboy training providers

“We cannot afford to go back to the days of back-door visas and low-quality training," says AHC CEO Fiona Beamish. "Hairdressing must remain a qualified, professional trade.”

During the pandemic, Australians realised the true value of their hairdresser - not just for a haircut, but for mental health, self-confidence, and community wellbeing.

That’s why the AHC is calling on government to:
✅ Uphold mandatory qualifications
✅ Protect safety and professional standards
✅ Respect small business costs and realities
✅ Ensure only skilled migrants join the workforce

Hairdressing is a proud trade that supports thousands of small businesses and millions of Australians every day. We will not see it undermined!

The AHC will continue to fight for our industry, our members, and the respect our profession deserves.

So today I was working in our sister salon Shear Beauty at Wavell Hts.
Our beautiful stylist Bev was feeling a bit off colour, so I went to the Good Chat coffee co, next door to get a cappuccino to give her a bit of an energy boost.
I mentioned our lovely stylist wasn’t feeling her best, to that owner and barista extraordinaire Dan brought her in a lovely honey, lemongrass, wheatgrass, cinnamon tea and a few healthy extras to make her feel better as well as her cappuccino.

Happy Easter everyone 🐰🐇💐🐣

What you may not know about us, is that one of our salons is in a grand foyer underneath an aged care community.

We are so blessed to be able to look after our public clients there and we also love being able to look after the needs of the community upstairs.

So when the Easter bunny arrives in the salon our beautiful hairstylist Cindy takes this little bub ( who had been sitting with his mum while she was having a full head of foils) to say hello to the bunny.

The story doesn’t end there, the bunny took the little Bub to visit all the elderly residents, they absolutely loved seeing him and forgot all about the chocolate eggs.

All this while mum relaxed in the salon.

We are so blessed to work in such beautiful salons and bring joy to all our clients both young and old🩷
