Making Pretty

Was so lovely to finally get the chance to do this beautiful soul’s hair & make up!! had previously booked me a couple of times for events that ended up being cancelled due to lockdowns and restrictions!!

This was the first time Astrid had had her make up done since her wedding day and I wish I had filmed the moment when she first looked in the mirror as her reaction (loving herself) and tears of joy were so moving.

It’s moments like these and the beautiful connections that I form with my clients that really make me love my job 💖

Just an update to let you know I’m still here!! I know I’ve absent from the feed but lockdown blues had got me down for awhile until I had an energetic shift 💖

I was out alone walking my trail one day and I had an epiphany. I couldn’t wait endlessly for the situation to change I had to find and create moments of joy for myself everyday.

Some of my joyful activities are:

👯‍♀️ Walking dates with my fellow
MUA friends

🦶Grounding (connecting with the earth) by walking barefoot in the grass

🎨Being creative, doing gem art, embroidery, painting and I’m about to learn macrame

🔮My spiritual practices - cleansing rituals - full moon yoga, gratitude, reiki

🧘🏻‍♀️Daily meditations using app

🤳🏽’Long as’ phone calls to catch up with friends out of my 5k zone

🎧Listening to podcasts. Some of my faves are and

🎶 Playing old school 90s music on full blast and singing along whilst I clean my house. (Which I’m sure entertains my neighbors as well!)

My last hair and make up job before lockdown was a goodie 💖

Georgia had never worn any make up except for mascara and lipgloss before and it was my privilege to get her ready for her school formal.

Her mum was crying tears of joy before we even finished the make over and Georgia was totally over the moon with her new look.

Unfortunately the school canceled the formal an hour before it was about to start due to the impending lockdown but according to Georgia’s mum they still had a fun night so the hair and make up was not completely wasted!

My fingers and toes are crossed it won’t be long before I am back to work with my beautiful clients again.

I’ve barely worn any make up during lockdown and whilst I champion a woman’s right to feel beautiful with or without make up there’s something truly empowering about wearing a bright lip!

It can really lift your mood 💖 and the compliments you receive when wearing something bright or bold don’t hurt either 😉
