I’ve been sitting at a bit of a crossroads with Olearia lately.

Not because I don’t know where I want it to go, but because I’m realising I’ve kept it within a much smaller world than the one I actually work within.

I was already working deeply with Australian native plants when Olearia began. This business came from wanting to work more intimately with these plants, explore their uses, and connect women with them through skincare.

And somewhere along the way, it also became most of what you see here.

But the reality of my work with plants is much broader than skincare.

I wildcraft. I make tinctures, infused oils and herbal preparations. I’ve studied herbalism and astro-herbalism, and work with alchemical methods of medicine making. I follow plants through their seasons, learn where they grow, harvest when they’re abundant, and spend a lot of time experimenting with how they can be worked with in different forms.

And I think I’ve been hesitant to share all of that here because Olearia has become known predominantly as a skincare brand.

Lately, that has started to feel a little confining.

I don’t want to confine what Olearia Botanics is and the many roads it may lead down.
So you’ll slowly start seeing more of the other side of what I create.

There are a number of small-batch herbal and medicinal preparations I’ve been quietly working on that will be making their way onto the website soon. Some will be seasonal. Some may only exist in very small quantities. Some may return when the plants do.

There won’t always be endless stock or perfectly timed releases. I want to work with what I can grow, gather, wildcraft and thoughtfully source — and offer what I have when I have it.

Skincare will very much remain part of Olearia.

Not everything beautiful needs explaining.

Sometimes it's enough to simply notice it.

The way the light catches a bottle. The colours that slowly appear after weeks of infusion. The tiny wildflowers gathered while they're in season, collected along my daily walks, and chosen simply for the beauty they bring to each bottle.

For six weeks, Lemon Myrtle, Lemon-Scented Tea Tree and Byron Bay Rose Myrtle slowly infuse into the oil. Once that's complete, I finish each bottle with locally gathered wildflowers, which means no two are ever exactly the same.

I'm so happy this batch is finally ready to share with you.

The markets have become one of my favourite parts of this journey.

Not because of the sales, but because of the conversations, the familiar faces, the chance encounters, and the community that naturally forms when people gather with intention.

There's something about sharing this work face-to-face, surrounded by nature, that reminds me why I started.

Online. Offline. Online. Offline.

There hasn't been much consistency here lately, and perhaps that's okay.

Life has been moving quickly behind the scenes. Between changes in relationship dynamics, finding a new rhythm with work, and completely relocating my botanical space from one room to another, my energy has been poured into creating a little more stability offline before returning here.

It's been surprisingly bittersweet packing down a space that has held so many hours of medicine making, formulation, quiet mornings, and messy creative moments. While nothing is ending, it's making way for a new chapter, a new corner of the house, and a fresh space to continue creating.

Showing up online has felt harder than usual, not because the passion has disappeared, but because sometimes the work that matters most happens away from the screen.

Olearia Botanics has always moved with the seasons rather than against them. Small batches, slow processes, and allowing things the time they need. I suppose life has been asking the same of me lately.

Thank you for sticking around while things have been a little quieter here. The shelves are slowly filling again, the new botanical space is beginning to feel like home, and I'm looking forward to bringing you along for what's next. 🌿

Each small batch is crafted slowly, following traditional alchemical principles that honour not only the plants themselves, but the timing of their harvest, extraction, and preparation.
