It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of Marley on Sunday 8 June 2025.

Marley was born in the Pilbra in April 2010. He was found beside his dead mother, along side a mining road. He was rescued by a mine worker who took him home to his family farm in Harvey. There Marley was raised with the young family. Like many domesticated dingos, he got up to some mischief, but was truly loved.

Marley moved to the boat yard at Casuarina in 2013 where he lived aboard an old boat. There Marley roamed the old land back harbour area. He got to know the people who worked in the area. As word spread about ‘the dingo at the harbour’, many locals (and some visitors) would regularly visit Marley and leave food for him. When the time came that Marley’s master had to move his boat from the harbour, Marley was taken away too. However, Marley would not settle and was brought back to the harbour, to his territory.

He was a regular at Marine Rescue Bunbury where we looked out for him. We even named our latest rescue vessel after him – Dingo Marley.

People’s love for Marley was evident by what was done for him. He had several ‘dens’ at the harbour, where he could bed down out of the weather. There was a feeding station set up for him behind the big ilmenite shed. Fresh water was left out for him there and at other places around the harbour. Some brought their own dogs to the harbour to play with Marley. He loved the company of his regular play mates. If anyone was concerned for Marley’s welfare, we were often the first point of contact and would ensure necessary action was taken.

We have arranged for Marley’s body to be cremated.

To all that loved him, he was our Red Dog.

Marley 2010 – 2025 May you rest in peace.
