The past week of the Sõmsana Breathwork Facilitator Training was all about energy and the subtle body ♥️

…you are not just a body that has energy. You are an electrical and magnetic being. Your heart and brain generate measurable fields. Every heartbeat, every thought and every breath is a current moving through you.

When energy flows, we feel alive, clear and connected. When it’s stuck, we feel that too. Retraining that flow of energy can create huge transformation in your life 💫🙏🏼

We included this in the training because Breathwork moves energy. And without a map, it can feel confusing. With understanding, it becomes embodied information.

So we don’t only teach technique. We teach about every subtle layer of the human experience 🫶🏽💫🙏🏼♥️

Let’s delve a little into the science of what we mean by ‘expanding your capacity’ 🤓

In simple terms, your autonomic nervous system runs through three states.

- Ventral vagal, your state of safety and connection.
- Sympathetic, your state of mobilisation.
- Dorsal vagal, your state of shutdown.

You move between them constantly, through something called neuroception, a subconscious scan for safety or danger, happening faster than conscious thought.

Capacity is how wide your window is within that map. How far you can move into activation or collapse before you lose access to clear thought and stay regulated enough to respond.

Chronic stress narrows that window over time. Every unresolved activation recalibrates your neuroception to detect threat faster, even when nothing is actually wrong.

This is why you can’t think your way out of it. Regulation starts in the body, not the story your mind is telling.

Breath is one of the only autonomic functions you can consciously override, which makes it a direct line into this system. Slow, extended exhales stimulate the vagal brake, signalling your system back toward safety. Do this consistently and you’ll retrain the baseline.

There’s an older teaching that says something similar, in different language. In Kabbalah, the vessel = the nervous system and represents your the capacity to receive. The teaching holds that light, abundance, connection, is always present and always flowing. What determines your experience of it is whether your vessel has been built wide enough to hold it.

Thousands of years before polyvagal theory had a name, this tradition was already pointing at the same truth. Your ability to receive is a capacity you build, not a stroke of luck you wait for.

That’s what expanding your capacity actually means. Not eliminating stress. Widening the window, physiologically and otherwise, so more of what’s already available to you has somewhere to land.

Tomorrow in our free workshop, Expanding Your Capacity, we’re doing exactly that together. Breathing and using other tools to make more room 🫶🏽✨

You don’t need to know anything about breathwork to be here. You just need to be curious about whatever’s been quietly pulling you toward it.

Starting this Tuesday, I’m opening up three free live sessions, one a week, all July. Safety, capacity, and connection, taught live, with me, the same way I teach it across my facilitator training, just condensed into three nights you can experience for free.

Come to one session, or come to all three. Each one stands completely on its own, but the arc means something when you do them together.

Sign up free, link in bio 🤍

Our training has been intentionally designed to move in stages: foundations first, then your own healing, then learning to hold that for someone else, then stepping into who you’re becoming as a guide.

By the time you reach the in-person immersion, you’re not learning something new...you’re embodying what’s already become familiar 🤍

(Swipe through for the full breakdown)

If something in here is speaking to you, head to the link in bio to secure your spot - or if you’ve got questions you’d rather talk through first, book a call with me there too. I’m excited to walk you through it 🫶🏽

And remember you don’t have to have it all figured out before you reach out. That’s what I’m here for xx

Let’s talk about the exhale, and how good it feels!! 😮‍💨

One of the most quietly powerful tools your body has, and one most of us have never been taught to use on purpose.

A longer exhale slows your heart rate. It signals safety directly to your nervous system. It builds your tolerance for stress over time. And it interrupts the loop between a trigger and your reaction to it, creating space exactly where you need it most.

Swipe through to understand the intelligence of a single exhale 🫶🏽♥️

There is a moment in breathwork when you stop trying to breathe and you simply allow the breath to breathe you.

The mind quiets and the body remembers what it always knew.

Something in that remembering ripples outward to your family, friends and community. This is why we come back to the breath, again and again ♥️

// A practice for you today:
✨Find a comfortable seat or lie down. Close your eyes and place one hand on your chest, one on your belly.
✨Take 3 slow breaths, in through the nose, out through the nose. Nothing to fix or change.
✨On the next breath, instead of directing it, simply notice it arriving. Feel the inhale begin on its own. Feel the pause at the top. Feel the exhale leave without effort.
🙏🏼 Stay here for 5 minutes

What if I am already enough, exactly as I am in this moment?

A journaling prompt for after:
✨Where in my life am I holding my breath, waiting for something to change before I allow myself to feel at home in my own body?

If this landed for you, share it with someone who needs a reminder to come home to themselves today. ♥️
