This wasn’t actually the hairstyle she wore on the day.

When she arrived, she asked for one of the most requested bridesmaid hairstyles this season, a soft, polished updo.

We created it. She loved the concept. It was beautiful.

But after seeing it finished, she quietly told me…

“I don’t feel like myself.”

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the hairstyle. It simply wasn’t her.

So we took it down and started again.

The second style was softer, a little less polished, and far more “her.” She walked away smiling, relaxed and confident, and that’s exactly how I want every bride, bridesmaid and event guest to feel.

As a hairstylist, my job isn’t just to recreate inspiration photos or follow trends.

It’s to listen.

To read the room.

To know when someone is saying, “This is beautiful…” but what they really mean is, “I don’t feel comfortable.”
