💙 Homelessness Week at Kuranda Neighbourhood Centre | 3–7 August 💙
Everyone deserves access to the basic essentials, yet here in Kuranda there are no public shower facilities, making daily life incredibly challenging for people experiencing homelessness or sleeping rough.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of Anglicare North Queensland, we'll have a portable hot shower available at Kuranda Neighbourhood Centre throughout Homelessness Week, helping people access something many of us take for granted.
🛁 We're looking for donations of clean towels to help make this service possible. If you have any new or good-quality towels you no longer need, we'd be so grateful for your support.
We're also pleased to have the wonderful Ursula volunteering her time to provide FREE haircuts on Wednesday from 11:00am – 2:00pm. A fresh haircut can do wonders for someone's confidence and dignity.
🌭 Join us for our Community BBQ on Tuesday morning, where everyone is welcome to come together, enjoy a meal, and connect with others.
Homelessness can happen to anyone. This week is about raising awareness, reducing stigma, and supporting people in our community with kindness, compassion, and practical assistance.
If you'd like to donate towels or find out more, please get in touch with Kuranda Neighbourhood Centre. Every act of kindness makes a difference. 💙

We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond. We can choose where we put our energy, what we listen to, what we read, and who we allow to influence our lives.
Sometimes healing begins with creating space. Unfollow or delete accounts that no longer resonate with you. Instead, choose to surround yourself with people, places, ideas, and experiences that align with your dreams, values, goals, and aspirations.
Protect your peace. Feed your mind with what inspires you. Growth often starts with the small choices we make every day.

We're busy washing towels and getting everything ready for our shower facilities this week. We can definitely use some more donations of towels please 🙏🏼 One of the most common things we hear from people sleeping rough is how much they simply want access to a hot shower. It's about so much more than getting clean—it means dignity, restoring confidence, improving health and wellbeing, and feeling human again. Everyone deserves the opportunity to freshen up, feel comfortable, and face the day with a little more hope. One of our amazing Volunteers is on his way now to pick it up and special thanks to Anglicare NQ - Community Outreach who have chipped in to pay for the cost of the hire this week 👏🏼👏🏼 Stay tuned for updates.

Here’s to celebrations, next chapters, and precious moments with family🦅🦋🥳
Tonight we celebrated my eldest daughter Sequoia Mogis officially signing off her apprenticeship last week. She is now a qualified Boilermaker. 👩🏼🏭❤️
Words can’t express how incredibly proud I am of the strong, determined young woman she’s become. Watching her work so hard to achieve this milestone has been such a privilege.
It really feels like there are next chapters unfolding everywhere at the moment. New beginnings, exciting opportunities, and dreams becoming reality. I’m so excited to see where this next season takes us all.
Here’s to hard work paying off, celebrating the wins, and embracing the beautiful chapters still to come.

Side Quest Saturday… it might just become a thing alongside Fun Fact Fridays😂😂😂
Well… today I had every intention of getting up early and making a solid start on packing and sorting.
Instead, here I am, still in my PJs, watching a murder mystery, and somehow I’ve been completely sidetracked cleaning and polishing jewellery I’d packed away years ago. 🤷🏻♀️
While cleaning, sorting and setting up my new space to welcome abundance and all the blessings this next chapter has in store, I found myself slowing down instead of rushing.
And you know what? It’s actually been such a beautiful little detour.
Every piece has brought back a memory. The person who gave it to me, the place I bought it, the occasion it was for, or the chapter of life it represents. It reminded me how grateful I am for the beautiful people who’ve thought of me over the years.
I’ve always loved receiving jewellery, but I love giving it just as much. To me, jewellery isn’t just something pretty to wear. It’s a little time capsule. Every time you put it on, you’re reminded of a person, a place, a holiday, a celebration, or a moment that mattered. ✨
I even found necklaces the girls made for me when they were little. Those are treasures you could never replace. 🥹💛
So… technically, I am still unpacking. It’s just happening at a much slower pace than I’d originally planned! 😂
Sometimes the unexpected little side quests end up being exactly what we needed. A chance to pause, reflect, appreciate how far we’ve come, and make space for what’s still to come🌺🦋🦅🏡
Before anyone asks… yes, the video really does cut out after “Today’s Fun Fact Friday is about sleep!” 😅 Maybe my phone was trying to tell me it needed an early night too!
But here we go… Week 2 of
Fun Fact Friday at Rosies Haven
🌿 Fun Fact Friday 🌿
Today’s Fun Fact Friday was supposed to be a video… but my phone storage had other plans! 😂 So here’s this week’s fact instead.
😴 Did you know?
Sleep isn’t just about feeling rested. It’s one of the most important things you can do for your mental health.
Research from the Black Dog Institute shows that good quality sleep and regular sleep patterns are closely linked to improved wellbeing. Poor sleep can affect your mood, increase stress, make it harder to concentrate, and is associated with a higher risk of anxiety and depression.
If you’re finding life feels heavier than usual, don’t underestimate the power of looking after your sleep.
🌙 A few simple ways to improve your sleep:
• Put your phone away at least 30 minutes before bed.
• Listen to calming music, a guided meditation or gentle nature sounds.
• Keep a regular bedtime and wake-up time where possible.
• Make your bedroom dark, cool and relaxing.
• Try reading a book, journalling or practising gratitude instead of scrolling.
If you’ve been struggling with your sleep for several weeks, it’s worth having a chat with your GP. Poor sleep can sometimes be a sign that something else is going on, and your GP can help explore what’s contributing to it. If appropriate, they can also discuss a Mental Health Care Plan and other supports available.
Small changes each night can make a big difference over time. Your mind and body will thank you. 🤍
