For a long time, she believed healing meant becoming a different person.
A stronger person. A calmer person. A more confident person. Someone who had it all figured out.
So she kept searching. Learning. Growing. Trying.
And much of that journey mattered.
But one day she noticed something unexpected.
The moments that felt most peaceful were not the moments she became someone new.
They were the moments she stopped trying so hard to be someone else.
The moments she laughed freely. Rested without guilt. Spoke honestly. Trusted herself.
Not the polished version. Not the perfect version. Just her.
🌿 The deepest homecoming is often a return to the person you never truly stopped being.

She made a mistake.
Nothing catastrophic. Nothing life-changing. Just a normal human mistake.
Yet the conversation in her head lasted for hours.
She replayed it. Analysed it. Criticised herself. Held herself to a standard she would never expect from anyone else.
Then she imagined her closest friend sitting across from her describing the exact same situation.
She immediately knew what she would say.
'You're doing the best you can.' 'It's okay.' 'One mistake doesn't define you.'
The words came easily for someone else. The challenge was learning to offer them to herself.
🌿 The relationship you have with yourself deserves care too.

Her last child had left home six months before she came to see me.
She had spent 24 years being someone's mother in the daily practical sense.
And now the house was quiet.
'I don't know what I like anymore,' she said. 'I don't even know what I like to eat for lunch when no one else needs to be fed.'
We started there.
Lunch.
The small things.
And slowly, week by week, she began to remember herself.
🌿 Homecoming often begins with the smallest things.

She wasn't sure she was allowed to call it grief.
No one had died.
She still had her health.
She knew how lucky she was.
But she was grieving the marriage that had quietly ended.
The years she had given to something that hadn't worked out.
The version of herself who had gone into it with such hope.
She called it 'just sadness'.
I called it grief.
And I watched something in her face settle when I did.
🌿 Being witnessed in your loss — whatever form it takes — is part of healing.

She was afraid of crying.
Not because she thought crying was wrong.
Because once she started, she wasn't sure she could stop.
This is one of the most common fears I hear from women who have been containing their emotions for a long time.
In practice, when they do allow themselves to cry — really cry, in a safe space — it does stop.
And what they feel afterward is not the falling apart they feared.
It is relief.
🌿 Emotions, when given space, complete themselves.

🤳 The Front Camera Doesn't Tell the Whole Story
We've all accidentally opened the front camera and wondered…
"Was I really looking like that?"
One awkward moment doesn't define you.
Neither does one difficult day.

She had a knot in her stomach that had been there for three years.
She'd had all the tests.
Everything was fine.
But nothing felt fine.
When we began exploring what she had been holding since around the time it started — a significant loss, a difficult transition, a relationship that had ended painfully — the pieces began to connect.
Her body had been holding what she hadn't had space to process.
Slowly, gently, we began to create that space.
🌿 The body is patient. And it is waiting to be heard.
