If you mean how someone is selected as Australian of the Year, the process is roughly:

1. Nominations open — Australians can nominate someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the community.
2. State and territory awards — nominees are considered for the relevant state/territory Australian of the Year awards.
3. National finalists — the finalists from each state and territory are considered nationally.
4. National selection — an independent National Australia Day Council selection committee considers the finalists.
5. Announcement — the Australian of the Year is announced around Australia Day (26 January).

The award recognises people who have made a significant contribution to Australian society, rather than being chosen by a public election.

If you meant how to select the year (1980, 1981, etc.) on a website, send me a screenshot and I can show you exactly where to tap. #
