Australians shouldn’t be paying tax on essential healthcare, but right now, they do.

Exercise physiologists are essential to help people manage conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and mental illness. But there’s a catch: it’s still taxed.

Under current legislation, exercise physiology is still subject to the Goods and Services Tax (GST). That means Australians pay an extra 10% every time they see an exercise physiologist.

What this means

Higher costs for patients managing chronic illness and injury
Barriers to access for vulnerable communities
Disincentives to use effective, preventive care

🤩 Client Spotlight 🤩
Over the weekend, two of the hardest-working clients absolutely crushed at the Brisbane HYROX.
Both Caz and Jess, I’ve been working with for months, to smash this event and pushed the boundaries of what they were both capable of doing.
Not only did they smash their goal of a sub-90 mins, but they got the time 77 mins!!! And they did it with a smile on their face the entire time and have already said they wanted to compete in the one in Sydney in a few months’ time and beat their time again!
It’s been a pleasure creating a program for these two that they have followed!
Can’t wait to see what happens in the future

Ever wondered why your Exercise Physiologist uses so many analogies? 🤔

Because your body isn’t just muscles and joints—it’s a system that learns, adapts, and responds to how you treat it. Pain isn’t always damage (think of it like a car alarm 🚗), exercise is like medicine (the dose matters), and your body handles load just like a bank account—what you put in vs what you take out matters.

Rehab and training aren’t about going all-in or doing nothing… they’re about finding the right dose, building gradually, and staying consistent. Because at the end of the day, consistency beats intensity every time.

If you’re not playing competitive sports your focus should be exclusively on aerobic fitness to help you feel good and stay healthy.

We all love pushing for PBs but in this case you should go slow to go fast.

A rough guideline is to have 1-3 normal weeks between PB attempts or max effort sessions. That way you stay fresh while exercising plenty!

Movement is medicine!

While all of these are achievable for the vast majority of individuals you should aim to slowly build toward completing them all weekly. Take small steps every week instead of making radical unrealistic change. That way you are far more likely to succeed.

And we want you to succeed 🫶

CLIENT ACHIEVEMENT ALERT!!!

Meet Greg, one of our hard-working clients here at Fundamental Physiology.

Last weekend, Greg competed in the NSW Zone Marathon Championships for outrigger kayaks. He and his team came up against some incredible talent, making it a great learning experience and an awesome day of competition.

Greg has been training 5+ times per week for close to 4 months to prepare, including 2 supervised gym sessions each week with our AEP Evan.

All that hard work has helped keep his body in great condition, and he’s already straight back into training.

We are proud of the effort, consistency, and commitment 👏
