As we are approach 30 years in business this August, it is hard to believe some of the amazing exterior work sitiations the salon has been involved with given we have always been a tiny little suburban salon. From international fashion week creative direction, film and television HOD roles, to Life Skills and Leadership mentoring of First Nations Youth in Perth and the Pilbara, supporting a PhD study aimed at breaking enterprising career progression barriers of Rural, Regional and Remote women, we have stretched ourselves creatively.

A while ago, our director Simone, worked her magic on a production (The Turning) that Actress Rose Byrne starred in and recieved an ACCTA award for. Impressed with the art Rose took the time to leave a written thankyou note for the hairdresser from the city of Gosnells.

Rose just won this years Golden Globe for the category of Best Actress - Comedy or Musical (role in "If I Had Legs I'd Kick You")! We congratulate Rose on her most recent win, who in the words of Simone "is one of the most hillarious, kindest, talented people anyone could wish to work with".

Our team are excited with the new innovations we will be applying in 2026 for our clients both inside and outside of the salon walls as we continue the business roller coaster ride. We appreciate your support dearly.

Is there a post-menopausal hair length? Why women are defying old rules 30/10/2025

Below is a snapshot of content highlighting a recent media contribution by our director, Dr. Simone Lee, for the Sydney Morning Herald. The article, written by Nell Geraets, is titled:

“Is there a post-menopausal hair length? Why women are defying old rules.”

We believe this article is an insightful read as it addresses an issue that many of our salon guests and women are navigating!

"Dr. Simone Lee, the education director at the Australian Institute of Trichology, states that the availability of advanced hair enhancement procedures, such as hair coloring, hair replacement, and lengthening services, has significantly increased. She explains that longer hair can camouflage patchy hair loss and other scalp conditions while enhancing facial shapes and stature. Additionally, longer hair may be viewed as an “anti-aging” strategy, as it often creates a youthful appearance'.

Is there a post-menopausal hair length? Why women are defying old rules A wave of older celebrities are keeping their locks, defying the old rules about appropriate lengths, while others say cutting it short feels ‘empowering’.

"Is protein the secret to healthy hair?"

With winter weather setting in, hair's manageability can become more challenging. TRH director/trichologist Simone's latest hair science contribution for Body + Soul Magazine (see link below) provides information about different types of protein (keratin, silk, etc.) and their linkage to promoting beautiful locks right the way down to the molecular level!

Antecedents of the entrepreneurial mindset of young Rural, Regional and Remote (RRR) women and their intention to engage in entrepreneurial behaviour : University of Southern Queensland Repository 16/05/2025

We are excited to share that the embargo on our director's research (the first of it's kind) which examines from the perspective of young Australian RRR women, the barriers they experience concerning their enterprising work and career progression, and crucial factors that influence their entrepreneurial mindset and intention has been lifted today. The research abstract has had many views in the past month, and the entire body of work can be viewed or downloaded via the link below. We thank TRH staff, clients and supporting organisations for helping to make this possible. Most importantly we thank the young Australian remote, rural and regional women who participated in the study.

Building on our last update about our work this year, some new hair science media has just landed our way that we are excited to share! Our director was recently engaged as the hair science authority for News Corp's Body + Soul health and wellness magazine to weigh in on the social media buzz thats happening at the moment about how to promote healthy hair through porosity. A quarter of the year down, and our team can't believe how fast time has gone! So far this year the salon has continued to invest in new tools, products, AI and imaging technologies to ensure we continue to deliver the finest results for our clients.

Most days, our team members find themselves discussing topics with our guests such as the effects of hormonal (e.g., menopause), biological (e.g., aging and metabolism), and other factors (e.g., diet, lifestyle and skin conditions) that can influence hair's structure and its natural growth cycle.

During the aging process and in different circumstances, hair can appear thinner, its texture may feel coarser and it may fracture easily. The hair's overall strength can also become weaker. To aid our clients in combating hair problems we scientifically test specific products, state-of-the-art tools and practical techniques through trichoscopic imaging to ensure personalised results are consistently achieved.

The images below below captured by our salon Director, Trichologist and International Trichoscopy Society Member Simone, represent hair with structural concerns which have appeared over time, the same hair after specific salon hair resurfacing services have been applied and an example of a scalp skin condition before and after one of our therapy treatments.

We are excited by these results and look forward to sharing more of what we have been up to in the coming months 😀.
