Thinking about laser hair removal but not sure where to start? Here's what the process actually looks like.

Laser hair removal works by directing a specific wavelength of light at the pigment within the hair follicle.

A question we're often asked is why more than one session is needed. Hair grows in cycles, and at any given time, only a portion of hair is in an active growth phase. Laser can only interact with hair during this phase, which is why a course of sessions, spaced appropriately, is generally recommended as part of a treatment plan.

Skin tone, hair colour and hair thickness all influence how a treatment plan is approached. These factors are assessed individually during your consultation, so your plan is suited to your skin and your goals.

Common areas we see in clinic include legs, underarms, the bikini area, face and back, though every area is considered on an individual basis.

As a doctor led clinic, your consultation and history are reviewed with medical oversight from Dr Melissa McCann before any treatment plan is developed.

Pigmentation is one of the most common concerns we're asked about in clinic, and it's something almost everyone experiences in some form over the course of their life.

Pigmentation happens when melanin, the pigment responsible for skin colour, is distributed unevenly across the skin. It can show up as small areas of freckling, broader patches, or a general unevenness in tone. It can be influenced by a number of factors, including UV exposure over time, hormonal changes, genetics, and previous skin injury or inflammation.

Living in a high UV environment like the Whitsundays means cumulative sun exposure is a common contributing factor for many of our patients. It's worth remembering that pigmentation is a normal response of the skin and not something that reflects how well a person has looked after themselves.

Because pigmentation can sit at different depths within the skin, and can present differently from person to person, an individual assessment is an important first step before discussing any options. Your doctor will look closely at your skin, ask about your history and goals, and talk through what may be relevant for your individual circumstances.

If pigmentation is something you've been thinking about, a consultation is the best place to start.

A closer look at what Candela VBeam may be considered for 👇

VBeam uses pulsed dye laser technology to target haemoglobin within selected blood vessels, making it relevant to a range of vascular skin concerns following assessment, including:

• Active inflammatory acne where vascular redness is present
• Post inflammatory erythema (PIE)
• Facial redness
• Rosacea related redness
• Visible capillaries
• Selected vascular birthmarks
• Redness associated with some scars
• Selected visible veins

These before and after images show real patient responses to treatment. Every vascular concern is different, so suitability, treatment settings and the number of sessions required will depend on individual assessment.

VBeam pricing:

Spot treatments from $99

Half face $275

Full face $550

Leg treatments from $350, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Speak with our team to arrange an assessment or explore VBeam via our website.

A new addition to our treatment menu has arrived.

Gold Needling Peel Infusion combines two elements in the one treatment: a stamping needling device and an Ultraceuticals Professional Peel delivered simultaneously into the skin.

What makes it particularly interesting is the ability to personalise the peel component. Following a skin assessment, the professional peel can be selected according to individual goals such as supporting hydration, brightness or overall skin quality.

So while the technology remains the same, the approach can be tailored to the skin in front of us.

Gold Needling Peel Infusion is now available in clinic. Contact our team to find out more or arrange a skin consultation.

Needling, with something extra.

Our new Gold Needling Peel Infusion uses a stamping device rather than a scratching motion across the skin, while simultaneously delivering an Ultraceuticals Professional Peel.

The interesting part? The peel component can be selected according to your individual skin goals.

Hydration. Brightness. Overall skin quality. Your practitioner will assess your skin and determine the appropriate peel and treatment approach for you.

Gold Needling Peel Infusion has officially arrived at Whitsunday Cosmedics Skin Clinic.

Dry or compromised skin doesn't always come from one single cause. Sun exposure, climate, and a weakened skin barrier can all play a part over time, and it's a concern that comes up often in our consultations.

Choosing the right moisturiser is something we talk through individually, based on your skin type and history, alongside any broader conversations about sun habits or in clinic treatments.

Available in clinic. Ask us during your next consultation.
