Retinol, retinal, retinoic acid, tretinoin… confusing, I know. 😵💫
They’re all forms of Vitamin A, but they don’t work in exactly the same way.
And stronger doesn’t automatically mean better for every skin.
Over this series, alongside my own tretinoin skin experiment, I’m going to break down the different forms of Vitamin A, how they work and why choosing the right one for your skin matters.

That’s the question behind my latest little skin experiment.
Tretinoin is everywhere at the moment. Clients are asking me about it, some are already using it, and TikTok would almost have you believe that once you hit a certain age, prescription vitamin A is something you should be using.
But should you? Well that is something I want to help you find out … So I am putting my skin on the line
Am I nervous yes
Am I curious yes
But rather than having an opinion about it, I’m going to put my own skin to the test.
I’m going into it completely open-minded.
If tretinoin improves my skin, I’ll show you.
If my skin hates it, I’ll show you that too.
And along the way, I’m going to break down the different forms of Vitamin A we use in clinic, why they’re different and why stronger doesn’t always mean better for every skin.
My goal over the next few weeks and months is to educate you more on Vitamin A and why stronger is not always better
