The cut of Loukoumades Soap 🫧😍

Loving how this looks. I think the speckles are from the ingredients in the honey (it contains ginger, cinnamon, lemon rind and lemon myrtle oil).

There is a subtle cinnamon scent from the essential oil. Cinnamon can be a skin irritant, so the recommended usage rate is quite low.

All in all, I'm very happy with how this soap turned out; made from leftover cooking oil 🪔

Now we have a useful product for my family to use, from something that would usually be thrown out.

Loukoumades Soap?????

Every now and then we cook up a batch of Loukoumades, yummy little Greek donut puffs. We like them tossed in cinnamon and sugar, drizzled with honey 😋🍯

We don't often deep fry food, and it feels very wasteful throwing out the oil afterwards. So I thought I'd use it in some soap 🧼 Just for the family, of course.

So..... I filtered the oil through some cotton cloth. Nobody wants fried donut in their soap!

This is rice bran oil which can make lovely soap and I added some coconut oil for bubbles and extra cleansing qualities.

We also had some spiced honey that we bought a while back. Nobody liked it so it's just sat in the cupboard. Honey can also add some nice bubbles to soap, so in it went!

And cinnamon essential oil for that donut scent 😍

So..... There we have it, cinnamon honey soap using leftover oil.

By the way, honey can also overheat the soap batch, so it's important to do your research and use the correct quantity.

Just out of the oven but I couldn't help but test it for size and cuteness factor 🥰

Turquoise and yellow are such happy beachy colours 🏖️ 🌊 Loving the little sparkle in the base too.

My resident polymer clay expert, aka Kid #1, suggests we add coats of resin to strengthen the soap dish before using it. Stay tuned.......

Very proud of myself! We had a creating day with friends and somehow I made a soap dish! 🧼😍

I've been searching for the right soap dish for a while now. Handmade soap really really needs good drainage. The soap has so many beautiful ingredients and it's so sad when it sits in a puddle and goes soft and mushy 🫣

But with the right soap dish and care, it can last a long time.

I wanted lots of holes for drainage. I am planning on making a second dish to go under which will drain into the basin.

This one is polymer clay, but it would also be gorgeous in ceramic. Not that I have any of the tools or no-how for that... 😅

Oh and of course I couldn't not include my daughter's cute and slightly crazy fruity fish in the background. Oh and I can't take all the credit for the soap dish either because my daughter also did most of the conditioning of the clay which is far too laborious a process for me! 🫣😅🥰

Now that the pre-market-prepping-panic is over, it's time to get organised! I have so many gorgeous fabric offcuts, left over from projects, and I really struggle parting with them when they're this pretty! What better way to use them than to wrap and decorate soap bundles?!
