We’ve always believed the difference between a good interior and an exceptional one lives in the details.

One of our favourite features in our Lavender Bay project is our solid walnut crown moulding.

We didn’t want something standard or off-the-shelf.

We wanted depth, layers and a profile unique to the home.

Fedwood supplied the individual moulding profile options, and from those, our Opulent Finishes team designed a custom crown moulding. Combining multiple profiles to get the scale and detail just right.

Then we took it into walnut.

We sourced solid 200mm x 50mm American walnut planks which Warringah Timbers milled into the individual profiles we had selected.

Those profiles were delivered to site, where our team assembled the crown moulding piece by piece before installing it.

Simple? Not exactly.
Worth it? Absolutely.

It’s a detail most people will never understand the work behind.

But they’ll FEEL the difference it makes to the room.

And that’s the thing about great craftsmanship.

The detail isn’t part of the design.

For us, working on a heritage home is never about making it look new.

For this restoration, nothing off the shelf had the proportion, detail or presence the architecture demanded. So the fireplace was designed from the ground up, beginning with a hand-drawn concept and refined alongside our stonemason until every line felt resolved.

Carved from Vagli marble and crafted here in Sydney, the finished piece was never intended to compete with the home.

It was designed to belong to it.

That is the difference between renovation and restoration.

From concept to completion, every decision is made with the original architecture in mind, so the finished work feels less like something new and more like something that was always meant to be there.

🔨 Restoring a 1901 Victorian icon.

On Sydney’s North Shore, this remarkable heritage home is entering the first stage of its transformation.

The scaffolding is up.

The roofers are underway.

And alongside them, our team is moving through the restoration carpentry required to keep the entire project progressing.

As sections of the roof are opened, the home begins to reveal what more than 120 years have left behind.

Original timberwork. Ageing structures. Details that need to be repaired, rebuilt or carefully retained.

Our carpenters are working closely with the roofing team, completing each repair and ensuring every new element works seamlessly with the original architecture.
