Full scale drawings are great.
You can mark directly from the drawing to your timber components without having to measure. And then lay the actual components on the drawing and you can see straight away if a part is correct.

In the furniture making course students are translating a 1:5 scale drawing into a full scale workshop drawing, and then using it to mark up the parts for their “workshop stool” project.

SET tag - this machine is set for a job and the job is not finished yet. Getting it right took time, and it would be really nice if that didn’t have to happen all over again! It also works on myself. An aide memoire for a brain that likes doing lots of different things at once. I keep multiple tags on hand. A little thing, but it helps. What do you use, if anything?

There is an immense satisfaction in using a tool you made to make another. Make a mallet, and then use it to make a marking gauge.
