Squamous cell carcinomas or SCC’s are common skin cancers on the scalp and can be very hard to manage if not treated early. SCC’s will spread through the blood vessels, lymphatics system or nerves if not treated adequately. This lesion was removed entirely and the defect was repaired with a flap.
If you notice any unusual skin changes, it’s important to get them checked. Please contact our clinic to book an appointment with one of our doctors.

OptimaScan is a clinical skin imaging system used to support full-body skin checks.
High-resolution images are taken to document lesions and areas of concern across the skin, helping track changes over time and support early detection of suspicious skin lesions. Images are then reviewed by a doctor as part of your assessment, with follow-up or management recommended where required.
This technology enhances consistency in monitoring and supports long-term skin health.
To book an OptimaScan skin check, please contact the clinic or book via HotDoc.

Could you spot the signs of melanoma?
Early detection is vital as melanomas detected and treated early are cured in 90% of cases. It’s important to ‘know the skin you’re in’ and seek medical advice if you notice anything new or changing. The first sign of a melanoma is often the appearance of a new spot, or a change in an existing freckle or mole.

Eczema, also known as dermatitis, is a group of inflammatory skin conditions that can cause dry, itchy, irritated and inflamed skin.
The most common form is atopic dermatitis. It is associated with a weakened skin barrier, which can increase moisture loss and make the skin more susceptible to irritation and inflammation.
Itching is one of the key symptoms. Scratching can further damage the skin barrier, leading to increased irritation and creating an itch-scratch cycle.
Eczema can be a long-term condition, with symptoms that may come and go over time. If you are experiencing persistent or recurrent symptoms, a medical assessment can help determine the most appropriate management approach.

Seborrhoeic Keratosis removal 3 weeks post laser ablative resurfacing.
It is common for some vascularity to remain for a few weeks post laser resurfacing as the area continues to heal.
Seborrhoeic Keratosis are benign in nature, usually appearing as a brown warty spot that appears during adult life. Occurring as a result from sun-damage over time/ skin aging. They can range in diameter, texture and colour (mixes of different browns, grey and yellow).
At Advantage Skin Clinic, thorough skin checks are performed by our Doctors or with our Registered Nurse prior to any lesion removal, to confirm diagnosis of benign lesions. Please call us to find out more about our services.

Sun protection is essential as the days get longer and the temperatures rise!
The right sunscreen not only shields your skin from UV damage but also helps maintain healthy, youthful skin over time. At our clinic, we stock a variety of sunscreens for different skin types and concerns, and our team can help you choose the best one for you.
Remember the key to effective sun protection: apply generously - about a teaspoon for each arm, leg, and the front and back of your body, plus another teaspoon for your face, neck, and ears. Reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating.
Visit us during clinic hours to find the sunscreen that’s right for your skin.
